Oil seals...

Had to change the one behind the front spocket this morning.....all done but it was a right beggar getting the old one out.

Is there a knack/tool for the job as I have struggled before with them on wheel bearings/swingarms and stuff - was paticularly nevous this morning as did not want to damage gearbox casings ashamed

Think an angle grinder usually works JT!

Or a die grinder if you've got a decent compressor.

Or a bloody big screwdriver to really get in there and prise the buggers out.

Or a couple of woodscrews straight into the seal and pull with the biggest vice grips you can find.

Actually, the last two with a bit more decorum than I suggested usually work quite well.

Thanks Harty - that looks like the sort of thing I tried to bodge this morning....

Xtrip I now feel a lot better as I thought I was missing a trick and that there was some easy/magic way to do it.........I feel much better knowing that whacking, bashing, prizing, cussing and bodging are in fact fully DTRF 'approved' methods biggrin
