After parting with my trusty KTM to a very decent chap from down south, I went and bought this beast, I always wanted one, and I picked this one up from Essex yesterday. Not a good journey on a bank holiday Saturday. I've not used it on the lanes yet, but on a ride over to see FBF in the shire of Danbury, I had an unchanging fixed grin. The bike has so much low down power and really good torque, so I think it will be a good bike for me. I don't feel so huge massive on this (good thing too). It has a Makuni pumper carb (not a Elderidge, like I thought) and a Mud Plugger hot cam, a Magura hydraulic clutch conversion, and I am glad to say, is p*ss easy to start, hot or cold. It has only done 1600 miles and I believe this to be a true milage.
So, if you see a great big red thing heading toward you on the lanes, that will be me and I will be on the Honda as well ! Some Pics...............
I've not got the CRF forks (last owner needed them)

Cracking - always fancied a big XR - many years back there was a place in a unit down Nr Hayle on the A30 that sold Imported stuff and he always had a good selection of them - this was back 10-15 years ago......always had a hankering for one...they were a bit different to your big beastie admittedly - but I really see the appeal....
Nice bit of kit Rob.. My mates is the same with regard to starting, however he hasnt been brave enough to try what some plum from America has (started it bare foot) check it out on youtube somewhere!!!! nuta
And he also says its fine on our lanes....your right about that bottom end grunt.. no need to yank the bars when you want the skywards.......awesome ENJOY

Nah, kicking over and when it kicks back should do that.
Anyway, nice bike very clean and tidy and I had the pleasure of seeing it today up close and personal. We took a short run out to test my rebuilt KTM which stopped at one point (new kill switch is faulty btw Rob BAH).
No muddy stuff (yet) as Rob is a pussy , but nice to know.
Thanks all, I used the old "just going down the shops, so I might as well take the bike" excuse on the wife, so I could have another go on it. Having a go on the lanes one evening soon.
Good looking beastie you have there, and you have swapped to the right colour as well. You could probably fit a tow bar to drag the orange things home as well

Riding with enthusiasm upon the ragged precipice of disaster
having ridden out on the lanes last night with Paul (very last minuet) I can see how that bloke fell off. It is very laneable but feels a bit like a super tanker, once it is going, it takes 3 miles to stop and it would be so easy to give it just a little to much wellie and get right out of shape. The bulk helps on occasions. I hit a rut wrong and it just cut a new one, nice !
It has so much grunt that I was spinning the back tire in second on a whiff of throttle. Will be tough in the mud. It has an MT21 on the back.
Fast learning needed, and a little self control in the "trail riding" god dept.
hope your well insured fully paid up member of bupa/ house paid for ? and a understanging boss lol ps im ave at very low rates should you req my services , your a very brave man !
set it up soft and go careful
