Classic Scramble 13th June

At Westleigh Barton Farm, Harberton, near Totnes.
Usual suspects .... Classics, Twinshocks, Pre-84 Evo 125's and the big pre-84 sidecars.
Practice starts at about 10.30, racing from midday.
If anyone facies helping out we need marshals. You would be paid £20, and get a free burger/hot dog etc and tea/coffee at lunchtime.

Those at a loose end on Thursday could come and help us set the track !

If we get enogh help and marshals, I may even get to race my old shonker wink

Oh Ian, you do this every bloody time - it's Musberry this weekend! Forget racing your old heap and come and have a play in the mud with us lot!

Shame you can't make it Dave. Looks like it will be a good day !

I need to race mine to get the practice for the next championship round a fortnight later at Wrangaton. The brain needs to leap from left hand gear change to right hand change. And vice versa for the rear brake ! Practice usually throws up a few interesting moments until I get my head round it.
Then it's just a question of hanging on for dear life !

Can you elaborate on what the duty would be of the  marshal??

Would i be able to bring my lad along (15yrs).

May be able to help out but would also need to know exactly where the place is.

Lokking very doubtful that i could get to Musbury even to watch the others and doubt if many rides will be going on. cry

cheersbiggrin

All marshals will be given a brief before they are allowed out onto the track.
You watch the bikes between you and the next marshal position in the direction of travel. If a rider falls, or stops on the track you stick your yellow flag out. If medical assistance is required for an injured rider you stick the white one out. Yes, there is a bit more to it than that, but that's the basics.
You are most welcome to bring your lad, and we will try to find a position for you so that if he gets bored he can move into the spectator area without crossing the track.

Signposted from the traffic lights next to the Police station in Totnes, and also from Marley Head roundabout on the A38.

Help is always needed, and any help is most welcome.
The earlier marshals can turn up the better. We start asking them to sign on at about 9.30 - 10 am.

No TRF card required.

Track is all up as of today. Thanks to Snaf for his grafting all day !
There are 5 marshal points, plus a few others required.
Sunshine has been ordered and confirmed !

Nice to have met Snafu, hope to ride with you soon mate.

Was nice seeing some of them bikes ripping round, my lad loved every minute, he even enjoyed a thick bacon sanger on the house..so he was happy.

RichXR put in an appearance, though i beleive his head was actually elsewhere due to something of an overload last night????biggrinbiggrin

Yeah was a good day out and ill be voluntering again

Well they were all different, the bigger ones (groutys etc) were doing 6 laps, slower slogger types were doing 4 (i think) and side cars were also doing 4.

Day went from practice starts at around 1 then all done and packing up by half 5. Really good day and the track was well set out. No real jumps but some good areas to flick in and out of with the addition of up/down hills and some straights.

Mya be wrong on all of the above (grouty will put it right im sure) but think that was about it. (so much dust though my brain/eyes/ears and mouth are still hamperedbiggrin)

Be good to see yours mate, smile

A big thankyou to Snaf & Feathers, without your help we would have struggled.
Races for the Classics and Sidecars are 5 laps, the Twinshocks do 7 laps.
Got a bit dusty towards the end, but I didn't notice too much wink.gif

Brilliant to see Chris Shoreland back on a bike after 15 years, and he went home with a win in the last twinshock race. Beat all the 250's too on his little 125.

Roll on August 15th. Same place, same time.
