Yes a few months ago had that 'unwanted' summons to the Crown Court to serve as a juror for 2 weeks.
This started Monday and typically I was picked as one of the intial 18 to attend the court. The names then get shuffled and the top 12 have to sit on the jury for this case. I wasnt picked - phew. Next the jury were asked if they knew anyone in the courtroom or witness names, and one juror said she did - she was asked to leave. So #13 juror was read out -- it was me!!!!
We all thought case was going to be a simple one as there really didnt seem that many people in the courtroom, next minute we see we are on serious case . I think we were all somewhat shocked as the factual matters were read out (of a sexual nature)
Anyhoo it ended up being a fairly easy case and there was very little in the way of the clear believable evidence provided by the claimant, so 3 days later we quite easily and quickly reach our verdict of not guilty.
Although they can ask you to sit in on more cases, there isnt a lot happening/booked right now, so we're just told that's it for our jury service, and we are also now free to go.
Was an interesting experience even though not particularly my cup of tea.
So I guess it's back to work tomorrow................... which is also in a **** situation right now as they just announced a reduction in approx 1/2 (70) of the workforce. -- and for those lucky enough to stay there will likely be other changes on conditions etc!!!
And I aint been riding since Exmoor either....................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
