Couple of inches here at Exton. Side roads not good but main Exeter-Exmouth road running freely. Was snowing heavily but stopped a few minutes ago thank goodness!

Expecting a few deliveries today - including some furniture to sit on over Xmas - so hope the snow stays away hmm

Most of it has gone but the temperature is plummeting and more is forecast this evening.

Just heard that Derek H from Exmouth came off his XL on an icy Woodbury back road and is currently on a trolley somewhere in the RD&E so please be careful out there if you have to travel tonight folks.

I managed to get a bag of rock salt which I have spread on the drive to see what it will do.

Loads down here in Torquay but the main roads are okay. Lots of numpties going too fast on clear stretches only to find the gritters haven't gone all the way and they're outta control - saw 2 cars hit the same kerb and then hedge in 3 minutes today - glad I parked out of the way and walked with the parcelshmm

Big worry is if the wet roads freeze overnight as I'm due in at 6am again and one non-attendance loses me my Xmas bonusfurious

snow in sidmouth this morning, some yellow streaks in places , cant think why nono

got to a junction in town at 7 this morning turned wheel in car and carried on forward without turning into said junction, tried to take evasive action but the inevitable happened, mounted the pavement for a brief period and scared one of the foreign waitresses from work who was nearby so i offered her a lift to work wink

got to work 5 mins later and she thanked me for the lift and then said you english are mad and i replied its a 'wacky world' we live in, with a smile of course or was it a cheeky grin biggrinbiggrin

Then at lunch time 2 gorgeous girls who work in the hotel came out and made a snow man from all the snow on our lawns, placing carrots in various places and ripped of 2 privet branches from a nearby bush to use as the snowman's arms a twig for a mouth, bin liner for a scarf, carrot slices for eyes, a small bucket upturned for a hat, then me and my work mate realised an uncanny resemblance to one of us winkbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Still i didn't mind it made my day watching them bent over gathering snow and also what a way to have an extended lunch break  biggrinbiggrin

Roll on monday for xmas work drinks and foreign babes having a few glasses of plonk and getting into the kissing mood wink crikey better have me annual bath biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I know dream on wacky wink

Mind you - turning the TC off on snowy roundabouts is a larfwink

Had a big Talbot Express van disbelief for work years back with front wheel drive......

If you had any more that a bag of shopping in the back it would get stuck on wet tarmac - bloody hopeless.

Saw a good home made mod on a Transit pick up once, the chap had made up an axle with two small rubber wheels either end which mounted on hinges above the back wheels.

He would then pull a pin and drop it down so the 2 wheels would rest on the 2 inner tyres on the back axle and then he would lock it there with a bar arrangement.

This worked as a diff lock - never saw it used in snow but it was very effective on muddy fields etc.

Maybe you need a 4x4 tranny wink

images.jpg

Or the ultimate !

newdinoleftfront.jpg

Used a few of these over the years - (we have a few in work) and they truly are unstoppable......

Probably a bit OTT for parcel delivery I guess hmm but hay would make it a lot more fun biggrin

JT - I'd never get my spindly body up into the cab of that behemothdisbeliefnoconfuse

Tomorrow I shall mostly be staying on the bus routes as the council has pretty much cleared all of them. Poor sods who live on a hill that has been untreated will have to wait for the thaw......or, here's an idea - go to a shop and buy thingshmm
