But that's where it will always happen Rich. I can just imagine stalling it in the gully at Ruggadon, and the battery dies. I'd rather have a kicker than a leccy boot. At least until I am too old and feeble to use one. Yeah yeah, not long

Take the kicker off, it's just something extra to rattle around. If the battery is good you'll never use the kicker, keep the battery topped up by using something like an optimate, just use it over night every few rides or after a period of storage. I don't leave mine on all the time (as a battery tender) though you can if you want too.
If the battery ever can't start the bike you can always bump start it (as long as your not on a flat muddy or gravelly lane)
I saw your bike in Greenlane just before you got it, Nice looking machine. I had a quick go on the PR5 last year. When funds allow I could be tempted!!!

I don't think so... it would be a great idea for sure but I came across this thread about it from 2003 so I think if it were going to be anything it would already be out there.
A message sent today - copied from the National forum:
There'll be some 5 month old AJP 200cc PR3's hitting the classifieds in a few weeks, riding school's upping to 240's - only a handful of hours on - early bird discounts available,,*nudge nudge* Nod, wink etc - I know a man.....
Just to bring all up to speed I'm in touch with Alen the importer and distributor of AJP off road motorcycles regards once again trying to organise a venue he can attend with his products the new 250 water cooled model and its three variations plus the new Aircooled 240 both mentioned in TBM recently fingers crossed these models will be made ave at Smetharps in August further to this I've once again been I touch popped into the show room of green lanes in Exeter. and once again invited them along to the Dolphin inn in Bovey Tracy to do a presentation of the older Aircooled AJP models sim to Torbay motorcycles visit awhile ago . See you all this eve folks in bovey
AJP were at the 2012 NEC Motorcycle Live bike show, with quite a large stand, which showed some promise.
I thought the Ultrapassar looked like an interesting alternative to the CRF230. The AJP staff said it was not an official AJP-Portugal model, but an AJP UK bike aimed at LDT riders, using the PR3 frame but with larger wheels and then lower grade shorter travel suspension than the PR5 model.
They said they are keen to let punters have a look at their bikes and had planned to be at the Cotton Farm 2012 Devon TRF event on behalf of Albion Motorcycles, but of course the day was cancelled. They also entered the Moor to Sea on a PR3 and came in 11th in class.
They said they would support Green Lane Motorcycles at future events and if Green Lane wished to buy an Ultrapassar to use as a demonstrator then punters could try it out. The guy obviously saw my expression when he mentioned that the dealers had to buy the demonstrators from them, but said that this was the industry norm.
They said the new 240cc electric start engine was arriving in early 2013, to fit the PR3, so would also be available in the Ultrapassar.
The engine is not made in Portugal, but somewhere in Asia, to the spec chosen by AJP. Apparently they can chose what spec what they like, design, components and bearings etc, to a price, so they chose a good spec as they are offering a 2 year warranty.
I see the power and torque figures are a smidge down on the CRF230, I was hoping being a newer design it would be a bit higher, but I suppose they chose longevity and long service intervals over outright power. It is quoted as being much lighter than the CRF though.
It would be priced at about £3600 and comes with a 2 year guarantee.
So I would be interested to try one if they could get one down.
I have been keeping an eye on the AJP UK website for official news and my interest waned when I saw that until very very recently they were still showing Albion as one of their dealers and still had no mention of Green Lane Motorcycles.
Hopefully after a ride, I can make my mind up.

I have had a close look at the AJP at Albion it appears there are two PR5s as mentioned in TBM test the mods a free flowing exhaust system sim to the Akrapovic design the only mods I would consider when last chatting to Gary were some flex levers ? And hand guards that's it , so what was there to like we'll good equip wide pegs Paioli sus good wheels fat bars the XR lump you could go down the 280 rout later ? It was slim although a little tall for some but then there is the PR4 ? Around a sturdy bike should get through one of our winters no problem with out a rusty exhaust etc P.S it's got a Estart ! -----Approved
Doug it's an XR250 motor that has been modernised and made under licence (I'm assuming by AJP) Having ridden one at this years Dawn To Dusk event I'd say it's a vast improvement over the original Honda motor and having ridden it back to back with my Beta I'd say the bikes performance was much the same in the conditions I rode in. It may be different riding them flat out on a forest road but then we don't do a lot of that. My Beta has a 350 kitted KTM 4T motor.
I really like that and would probably be tempted to give one a try if it came up used. (I couldn't buy a new bike for laning as it'd be heart breaking as the scuffs stack up).
What is the maintenance support like? Is there a factory repair manual? Is there a busy forum with experts keen to help you diagnose problems?
Have to say though my lads Rieju was faultless for the year he had it - I got through at least 3 stands on my KTM in that time till I got the Gaschef special
