The AJP that makes brakes is/was Spanish and not related to AJP Motos. I agree that for most people a 2-3 year old Jap or Euro enduro bike would probably represent a better bet but the AJP is not in the same market place, it is a trail bike that can be raced if you wished.

AJP really need to get some of these bikes out there in customer hands to prove one way or the other if they're up to the rigours of everyday ownership.

different company from the brakes and i rode with nick from the importer on the moor to sea and i was well impressed with how it rode and the components used it looked quite neat, the ajp brakes are used on most trials bikes and are very good.

if you look at the results he scored a lot less marks than some on 2 or 3 year old second hand enduro bikes and he flew up the hillclimb.

This one looks interesting

Ultrapassar, AJPs Long Distance Trial special

Our new baby has been creating quite a stir on the Dirt bike forums and you can see why..

Based on the proven PR3 platform, with its sturdy Honda designed 200cc fourstroke powerplant, the Ultrapassar wears larger wheels and trails tyres, with a more robust 520 chainset and tough ally bash plate.

The engines economy, allied with light weight and stiff chassis makes for a highly durable and manoeverable weapon for the technical sections. With excellent ground clearance and tractability, the Ultrapassar should prove a formidable foe on the long Distance Trial circuit as well as a very useful and flexible tool on the Green Lanes.

Available to order, it also enjoys the benefit of AJPs 2 year warrantee for complete mechanical peace of mind and a very attractive price tag of just £3699 OTR. Effectively you can now compete on a brand new bike, or combine its strengths and combine commuting and green laning to get even better value from your modest investment.

Contact us for more info - and to find out where you can see one in the flesh, we hope to roll out some demo bikes in the near future. These bikes will be a limited edition, so act quickly to secure yours.

Called in Greenlane today to get some chain lube for the Tenere. ( no Scotoiler yet!no) Nearly came out with a new AJP. Very tempted, took the demo P5 250 out for a spin.

Lovely bit of kit with a good spec, felt like a Enduro bike seems well put together. If I hadn't just changed bikes, I would have been tempted. Maybe when  the bike fund has been replenished!wink

Nice to see we still have a reliable local garage stocking them. Support your local dealer!!

He doesn't sell motorcycles, only servicing and spares.

Only complaint I've ever heard is that he is always busy. (Didn't charge me for soldering a wire back onto my ccm rear light for it's mot this week - nice man).

They are a shop they need to make a profit.  They need to pay staff, insurances, rent, utility bills etc. etc..  If people don't like big mark ups by dealers perhaps they should set up their own shop and see how easy it is.

Never had a problem with Greenlane, Bikeworx, Speed, Bridge, SP, NHS, DWP, DVLA or the Police (text book arrest, no complaints) - don't understand why anyone does, must be an attitudinal thing.

However this was a thread asking for dealer suggestions not the pros and cons of specific dealers.  If you have any further negative opinions on my opinions - I don't care **** off.

I've had a reply from Alan Pumfrey from AJP.

He explained the reasons for pulling out (before it was cancelled anyway cry) & he made quite a lot of sense.

I'll put his full reply in the next newsletter but in the meantime he's asked for suggestions as to possible dealers in the area.

He says it's a good opener to be able to say that an organisation with the clout of the TRF has recommended you.

Called into albion today and had a look - PR5 is the one that looked best 'up to the job'.

About £4500 - I'd like to see a Rieju Marathon beside it to compare...

Either way I'd not by a new one, but recon it could be a good value used buy in a year or so.

It all makes sence but they need to make a proper down draft cylinderhead like on a sports bike. The distance/route from inlet valve to airbox intake must sap the power.

Also I'm abit concerned that the 125 and 200s seen on ebay seam to have had most of the parts replaced after very litle use!

The little Rieju MR200 looks like a belter if you're after a small cheap new bike. About 3 and a bit grand and it has decent suspension, brakes and a proven Yam engine. Much better bet than the AJP I reckon but again - parts and bling availability probably the downside.

In my previous post, I think I should have said "the ONLY good thing about a KTM" to save people having cardiac arresthmm

Your probably right - the "non-well known" marks seem to lose a lot of value quite rapidly.
