Had a great trail ride with my bro' Trev led by our new chum Baz, a very competent run leader and rider.
It was such a nice day with the sun shining and little wind that we were able to ride in race shirts and trousers with just a single wick-away layer underneath and still be warm. Not often we can do that at this time of year.
Recent rain had made the lanes a tad slippery in places but the ground was rapidly drying. Can't find lane numbers for any of the lanes we rode and didn't have my GPS so, sorry John, no run record for the archives this time around.
Quite a few new lanes for me, some single track through trees, some long gravel fire-road type of going and some lovely loose rocky climbs and downhills. Oh yes, and a couple of ford crossings thrown in for good measure.
Great ride and hope to get out with Baz again in the not too distant future
Not up to your usual standard of ride report Brian, but thanks all the same. Where are the pictures? What area were you in? I must agree that it was pleasant out on two wheels today, though. It got a tad nippy, mind, as the sun was disappearing around 4pm. Martyn

TTR250 but now a mobility scooter Budleigh Salterton
We had spent a great weekend with ToroTrail a few years back in their old HQ when they were running all TTR250s. I had kept in touch with the boss, Lyndon, on and off since then and, following Big T's visit, an opportunity arose to go over and look at ToroTrail's new HQ and fleet of Yamaha WR250Rs.
I was surprised how cheap the flights were - £120 return flights from Bristol to Malaga for the both of us!
Crazy as it may sound, as it is only just over a 2hr flight, it makes it possible to go over for a day's trail riding and be back in time to have some kip and get to work the following day
We flew out on the 6.45am EasyJet service and were met almost immediately at the airport and were at ToroTrail's HQ by 10am English time - or 11am Spanish time.
After much nattering and looking around the accommodation (and spying over the WR250Rs) we got kitted up and Lyndon's partner in crime, Baz, took us off for a merry chase around the mountains. We didn't meet any of the wild bulls (their presence given away by generous deposits on the trails) or boars but saw plenty of other wild life, Trev even caught a glimpse of a Spanish badger on one of the lovely single tracks through the woods
A great ride in lovely weather and nicely dampened trails. The bikes lived up to expectation and did everything required of them. The engine felt quite a lot more torquey than the TTR250 and more reminiscent of my old WR250F. The suspension was plush and forgiving and the seat very comfortable - important if you choose the 5-day trail tour option
I echo Big T's thoughts and couldn't recommend ToroTrail highly enough. It's all so simple. Just book your flights and everything else is taken care of - transfers, accommodation, meals, bikes and clothing. The whole set up is pretty much perfect.
We came back home the following day having decided we would definitely go for longer the next time!
Looks like you had a great time Brian, I'm heading back to Spain this year to do another session with Andalucian trial tours, as like you, we had a great time down South with them.
I will be slipping off for a day during our summer holiday....................

Say hi to my old CRF's - think they still have some of the originals going strong!

I did the Torotrail last year. My first time off road for more than 25 years.
I rode with a group of Belgians for a day and Irish lads for two days - had a great time and Lyndon was a superb host and leader - lots of mixed ability in the Irish group from an enduro god to a which way round do you sit on this novice - but so much choice of alternative routes everyone enjoyed themselves.
AS Brian wrote it's very close and not overly expensive it was in fact a spur of the moment "I need a weekend break in Feb sunshine" decision that's led me back to off roading and to being on this forum....

And you say we've got Lyndon to thank for that?
Blokes got a lot to answer for......

Good bike, the Sherco. I had one but only sold it because of a worry long term about spares availability.....and the fact the CRF230 is better (for me) for what I do.
