Why do we need more than one forum?

I use the DTRFG Open Forum

I just became aware that there are other apparently parallel forums running and I can't help but wonder why?

The reason I created the Devon Trail Adventurists (2nd link down) was so that when I organised two camping trips around Devon last year, that we didn't plague the DTRFG forum with our ongoing talking about tents, bike equipment and sites. The site will remain, so that we can use it to organise more trips. Furthermore I can also say it's not been used as a splinter group to compete with the DTRFG forum, as it's for subjects not usually covered on the DTRFG forum. You will also see that there have hardly been any posts since November.

From what I have been told there are a further 8 other forums. Also Pete, 2 of those forums have hardly been used the past few months either!
