That's more relevant for trail riders as Motrax did quite a bit of kit and aftermarket stuff for us - think they are the company selling ProSkins base layers, one of the staples of my riding kit in any weather

Caution - the poster may well have been drinking........
Just goes to show the dangers of discounts, the more discounts the less profit and finally its not worth continuing, good customer base or not.
Frank Thomas great firm I bought my first leather jacket from them in 1972 and a lot of stuff since then, and I am saddened to see them go.
So remember the more cheap stuff off the internet you buy, the more discounts asked for, the fewer of these old stalwarts will survive
Next time you ask for a discount think of this, if your boss asked you for a discount on your wages what would you say, well thats exactly what asking a firm for a discount is, a reduction in the owners wages

BKS Leathers in Exmouth was bought by them recently aswell.
Didn't know that - let's hope they (BKS) survive, they were a small local firm with a world-class reputation.
They (BKS) have very recently won the contract to supply the met motorcyclists
When BKS joined with Frank Thomas, this was posted on the BKS website;
''BKS is extremely proud to be part of a new deal that sees the sale of their brand name rights to the Frank Thomas Group.
In turn, a new company within the Frank Thomas Group has been formed to make off the peg BKS suits that will be launched in May 2008, bringing a more affordable range to selected Frank Thomas retailers throughout the UK.
BKS founder, Brian Sansom will still carry on in charge of the made to measurecompany from its base in Exmouth. Brian would personally like it to be known that all current and future BKS made to measure customers should remain confident that nothing has changed and its business as usual.
In effect the Devon-based operation continues as normal but Brian will now also act as Technical Director for the BKS retail company within the Frank Thomas Group. The immediate aim is to produce a retail range of premium leathers and gloves made to the exact and high performance standards that the motorcycle industry expects from BKS.
BKS has always maintained the company makes the best suits on earth and that philosophy will not change.
To view the new 'retail' BKS Collection follow our link to a new dedicated website and see what's on offer. BKS Leather is now formally known as 'BKS (Made to Measure) Ltd' and is one of the stockists where you can buy all of these products''
So I think BKS at Exmouth as we know it will continue to make the top quality 'made to measure' suits , but it's the 'off the peg' retail BKS leathers with the lions head logo and made in Pakistan, that will cease.
I know what you mean but then not much kit in the 70s was offering protection! I just googled them - still available, might get a pair for fishing, my little toes frooze last week on the boat!

Dan
I still want to find a pair of Dunlop Trials Wellies, Steel Toe Caps, Steel Plates in the soles, Ankle and shin protection and they were Waterproof. And whats more you could kick a 500 single over with them and no fear of removing the end of your ankle bone

Its just you Simmo! I can see Dunlop boots but we've all been having probs viewing some pics
.... these are the originals:
All I want now is a pair in the flesh, Dont knock them unless you had tried them, the rubber ribbing on the front would absorb a hell of a knock, as would the ankle guards, Big Steel Toe Caps and full width steel plates in the soles. Took a hell of a lot of knocks
I rode using these for a lot of years, Plenty of room for thick socks, and never had wet feet or a foot / leg injury the only one I got was when I was not wearing them

God, you'd need your head examined to wear anything like that on bike!
WHY??? If they were good enough for the likes of the Clan Lampkin and Sammy Miller etc Besides which it adds to the ambience of any meeting when a dozen or so trials riders take off their wellies
