I think I will stick to the public highways where I am confident my insurance is valid.
Fun as the TRF days are I believe my insurers would point to the exclusions listed on my certificate and in particular the words 'off-road events' should I try to invoke said insurance following any incident at a TRF day and I do not want to be the test case.
Not worth the worry in my view for a 1 or 2 mile track with an entry fee when I have such a huge lane network available for free stretching in all directions.
I confess to getting bored after a few laps when the only remaining thrill is to be found by going faster once the course has been learned and ridden feet up a few times, the risks are obvious.
I am sure the TRF days will continue to be popular however and I hope my misgivings are never tested or proven.
Thankfully the TRF has changed it's legal framework so any large legal bills resulting will not be spread between the existing membership as was formerly the case. This single change was what persuaded me to renew my membership after a number of years.
I will certainly be out riding the lanes on a regular basis and look forward to seeing other members out there.
Got My bike renewal £80.00 fully comp! - old age has benefits
Also got a stone chip which quickly converted to a crack on my Honda windscreen - £4.00 short of £700.00!!!!, fully comp, so £80.00 excess. Not looking forward to the renewal date
after a complete mix up on the insurance companies party (splitting a multibike policy into 2 seperate policies) my annual renewal is £33.50.... on the XR400 at the age of 19 !!! :D :D :D

Just got my insurance renewal from Bennett's and seems a little steep anyone out there got any companies you'd recommend, hopefully in the next few months going to get a 2 smoke to keep the CRF company in the garage so would prefer one that would do a multi bike policy. Any ideas
EBike do very good multi bike deals and very easy/cheap on line adjustments. I am with them -'however on line reviews have shown they can be a mare to deal with if and when u may have to actually speak to someone. Carole Nash also used to do quite good multi bike policies if I remember correctly.
Carole Nash for me, NEVER again will I use Ebike, and also remember that Ebike also decided that they will not insure GasGas bikes, but thats not the reason I will never use them again, once my claim is settled I will write the whole story and you will be shocked

I'm in the same situation Bob, just phoning around yesterday. I was with Aviva through Dial Direct, but they no longer offer pillion cover as of this year (not that i really need it, as I don't have footpegs anyway!)
Dial Direct were coming in at around £110 with Zenith & Aviva, Carol Nash were around the same, but include breakdown and legal, Bennets only £72 so I think this will do for me! I already have breakdown and legal, so CN would have been my choice otherwise.
I've always found CN to be very good indeed, even when claiming. Bennetts did me fine for many years in my early riding days, and also more recently, so I'm happy with a £40 reduction from current premium for this year.
Oh, and MCE came in at nearly £140, so they're out.
Update: Just taken out the Bennetts option, and I have a Zenith policy anyway. That's a big difference between the Zenith quote from Dial Direct!
In addition, if you go through QuidCo to take out the Bennetts policy, there's an extra £20 cashback - that'll do nicely!

It's worth remembering that most of the people we deal are just brokers, Aviva is not, when you make a claim it's the underwriter you will be dealing with and therefore its a good idea to make sure that they are at least registered in the UK. When I last looked, E-Bike were based in Gibraltor, now I wonder why that would be!!
Oh and Brokenback, you may not be dead after an accident and with cr*p insurance you could end up in a wheelchair with serious financial problems. You'll care about insurance then!
You really do have to do your research with insurance, I now have my 4 wheeled vehicles with NFU. Not the cheapest but I can just walk into the Crediton office and talk to a real live human being! it's wonderful.
If you lend a vehicle to someone for a week, they will just add a name at no extra cost and if you claim, it is equally simple. I have just added Continental breakdown cover to a borrowed van insured with them to go cycling in France for the grand sum of £11.79
Something never to go without is Legal Cover. It's probably the most valuable part of your policy if you have a claim.
I shop around every year did one year with carole nash as i needed to insure a bike on the frame no to get it registered then when i wanted to change bikes towards the end of the policy £35 admin fee and then a huge rise at renewal time . e bike are cheap but heard bad rumours about them only real answer is to shop around
Am with CN as they did a multi bike policy when I had 2 bikes for a tenner more than ebike did with one bike. Admin fee to take the bike I sold off the policy so I'll let it run.....
Now - for those of you who think your premiums are a bit steep............here's the one quote I got from the meerkat company:
Strange thing these insurers, I was with dial direct for two years then this year I was informed by them that they couldn't quote for a WR450 as none of their 'panel of insurers' would cover such a bike??......they wasted a stamp 2weeks later saying 'sorry your leaving us' ......wtf
Ahh there's fine thing about couldn't give a t..s about risk in life, you may want to consider the 3rd party who may also be injured and end up in a wheel chair because of risk..........insure with the best you can afford.
Thanks guys looks like I'll give CN a ring first and see what they come up with I bet if I ring Bennett's as a new customer they will be cheaper Never makes sense to me that, surely you should look after the customers you already have
Well i have had 3 policies through the post 1 each day all exactly the same the last one thanking me for making changes to the policy and asking for £12.70 admin fee only snag is i havent made any changes and the 15 min phone call left me fuming and being told pay it or they will cancel the policy no refund w*****s Bennets dont use em i wont again
I can ride other bikes (3rd party) as well, handy if I have a go on other bikes.
I'm currently with eBike, 4 bikes and my brother as an additional named rider.
I thought I'd give A Quote a try, but they don't do a multibike policy with additional rider. I can't think 2 policies with A Quote would work out cheaper than I'm paying now, so my search continues.

Oh Dear, from my experience of ebike, I would look VERY carefully at what the policy says you will probably not have what you think you have paid for.
Oh Yeah if you make a claim good luck

Carole Nash also don't do a multi bike policy with a 2nd named rider. I've tried getting quotes for 2 policies, to get the coverage I want, but it's much more expensive.
What area of the eBike policy should I scrutinise? PM will do, until you reveal your whole eBike story to us.
MCE have just phoned me to say, although they don't do a multibike policy with an additional rider today, they will next month, so they will phone me back on the 1st of May to give me a quote.
Hopefully my brother will enjoy the lanes after all this effort, although the main bearings appear to have failed on 'his' KDX.
MCE have just phoned me to say, although they don't do a multibike policy with an additional rider today, they will next month, so they will phone me back on the 1st of May to give me a quote.
Guess what, MCE didn't phone me back on 1st of May. I then saw that their website now offers online multi-bike quotes, so I entered my details, then my brothers details, followed by the first bike, to find it was immediately giving me a price without taking any more bike details. Seems its not multi at all.
I then rang MCE, explained my problems, gave my online quote reference and he said he would enter the details of the other 3 bikes manually. Would I still get the advertised 30% online discount I wondered. Despite giving all the details, it appears neither of my KDX's are on the registration database, 'Are you sure you've given me the correct registration numbers?' 'Yes'
Finally, all details passed and he says 'Hang on, you want two riders on one multi-bike policy' 'Yes that is what I told you' 'Oh, I don't think we can do that. I'll check with our underwriters first thing in the morning, and then phone you immeditately with a quote' I told them the online muli-bike quote process allows for a second rider, so it must be possible. We'll see.
Guess what, MCE didn't phone. I have just phoned them, explained what I wanted, explained that the website after taking the two riders details, would only take one bike, not four, and that the chap who took all the info was going to phone me back, I gave him my quote reference. 'Sorry, we don't do multi-bike policies with 2 named riders, I don't know why he said he'd phone you back, we don't do it. Can I give you a quote with just you, and try a separate policy for you brother?'
'Yes OK' 'You'll need to tell me what other bikes you have because we only have the details of one'!!!
Anyway I did, and they're way too expensive for just me, without taking out a separate policy for my brother.
Who ever has a Policy with MCE, I hope any claim you make is dealt with more proffesionally than my quote.
