CN is not on the comparison sites I think.
+1 ITS THE BEST I'VE FOUND INCLUDES EVERYTHING AS ABOVE
Great posts everyone, realy helpfull. I had a ring round this afternoon with the following results, on a Husaberg 390, TPFF, social & domestic, no commuting,
Independant broker recommended by a friend £165
Carol Nash £196
Bennetts £119
Ebike £119 but with a further £25 reduction as my van is already insured with them, so Ebike it is

I have had a very positive recommendation for both the ease of use and the excellent prices returned by the MCN comparison site here
Not tried it myself yet as mine isn't up for renewal but it may be useful to someone. Please feed back though
I just used this, easy & some very good prices.
Cheapest was Swinton at £68 per year f/c BUT..........
It assumed I keep my bike in a garage at my home address but it's actually in a garage just up the road, in a different postcode.
This put the price up to £120
My best quote with A Quote, who i've been with for the last 3 years, was £116, (no legal cover) so I said I'd keep with them.
The guy at Swinton 'checked with his boss' and came back with Comp insurance with full legal cover which includes a courtesy bike (that could be fun ), I can ride other bikes & my NCB is protected, with a reasonable excess, all for £101.
I took it

Just tried to renew my policy with MCD, but they won't insure the long range tank
But Aviva will, and they did me a deal so it ended up cheaper with the exhaust declared too
Just been reading through this thread, and thought I would give CN a try, they matched my Aviva Price, with, wait for it, Aviva, but with loads of extras, so they got the the business.

+1 - it took a couple of days of wrankling but I eventuailly ended up with them with the extras.
My bike insurance is due this week and Carole Nash quoted £225 for my three road-legal bikes: the BMW 1150GS, Honda VFR750 and Yamaha Serow.
I talked to them and asked that they remove both the VFR and Serow as I'm not presently using either and this brought the premium down to £186
I thanked them for their time and went online turning up Swinton at £93. As that's who my house insurance is with I gave them a call and got it reduced to £80
Back to Carole Nash, told them of Swinton's price and asked what they could do - they reduced their price to £164 and said that was as low as they could go but, as it's still more than twice what Swinton wanted, I wasn't impressed.
Now, what makes this so hard to comprehend is that BOTH Carole Nash and Swinton were offering policies with AVIVA!
I asked CN to offer a suggestion why the difference and she described the CN "benefits" which, when pressed were:
o Carole Nash's own repairer - located in Manchester (this is a "benefit"? If my highly complex BMW needs a repair I think, rightly or wrongly, I want a BMW specialist to repair it)
o DNA Plus Solution (micro dots I painted on the bike last year)
o Breakdown Cover (I don't need this as I'm with the AA)
o Puncture repair (I carry a tubeless kit and if I can't repair at the roadside see above)
o Legal (never really been convinced by this as I have it with just about all my other policies anyway)
I asked if I could 'cherry pick' them but was told I couldn't.
So what we really have with CN is a business model where unwanted "benefits" are seemingly being used to justify high premiums.
OK, I know a new broker will bend over backwards to get the business while existing brokers add a 'broker fee' (CN's was £39!) and shopping around is always recommended but the difference is so great here CN must be having a laugh.
I've long subscribed to the adage: 'you can only spend your money once' but in these cash-strapped times that is all the more important so always shop around and play one off against the other.
That time again.
Just been speaking with CN, would you believe that the bike is NOT insured whilst it is on the drive - it MUST be in the garage at all time whilst at the property. You only have a 5 min time frame from ending your journey to getting the bike locked in the garage.
So, next time you are cleaning your bike, keep an eye on it! Needless to say CN did not get my renewal.

At what point does a spell away from a vehicle's registered insurance address become permanent?

The moment you try to claim.
I could get a discount for keeping my bikes in a garage but as far as the insurers are concerned they are kept on the street, which they are not, so as to be able to claim if anything gets nicked on the rare and temporary occasions when they are left outside for a short period.
Been speaking with a few now.
Pete - the bike is not covered in your postcode unless it is in your locked garage at ALL times, unless you do what you have done, for me to do that it more than doubles my policy!
I have had a total nightmare trying to renew my policy with eBike
Their system keeps crashing and they haven't been able to fix my glitch in two weeks. Promises of returned calls do not materialise and my insurance lapsed at midnight last night despite my frantic attempts to renew yesterday. Unbelievable
So I have had a merry time this morning looking at alternatives for a multibike (4 bikes) policy. Sadly no-one else does multibike and multirider policies other than eBike plus there is no admin charge for swapping bikes around mid policy.
Carole Nash is at the top of the list so far with a quote of £182 for just me and all 4 bikes but I remembered this thread. If I follow Pete's example and say they are going to be kept on a public road overnight, the quote goes up to £218 - Aviva Premier. Just tried a quote with bikes overnight on drive and its the same at £218. Is it worth the extra £36? Admin charge is £25 for changes.
The last company I spoke to was Hastings. I explained I wanted a multibike policy and we spent a congenial half hour with the sales lady filling out the screens with a faulty keyboard It was only after I had given the details of two bikes she said that was all I could have on the policy - the quote was £128. I would have to take out another policy for the other two bikes and would have to start from scratch on that one with no NCB aaaarrrrggghhhhh!!!!! Admin charge is £35 for changes!
You have to ring an 0844 number to get a multibike comparison quote via MCN
Perhaps I try Swintons now. Any other suggestions?
Unbelievable! As my policy with eBike had lapsed, I was able to get a quote as a new customer.
I built the quote up a bit at a time expecting their system to crash at any time.
Just me and one bike was £190.
Me plus 4 bikes - £190.
3 riders and 4 bikes fully comp inc. legal expenses - £192
Previous renewal quote for exact same riders and bikes was £401
Not sure what was going on so I took a chance and paid for it on my credit card before the system crashed. All went well and I was able to print the certificate with all the right information on.
Just hope I never have to process a claim through them

a few years ago i had two bikes stolen in 6 months from outside my house.they were insured as kept on the drive.they refused the claim on the second theft as i had not taken all reasonable precautions by using the garage ..........

I never renew for that very reason - always get a new quote as new customer, bike, car whatever.
I while back I just had the HD on one policy, when the KTM needed insuring I called to to see if it was possible to add it to the HD - It was and the price came down so by adding the KTM was less to insure both on one policy than it was to insure just one bike on its own.....
Saved over £1000 insuring my sons by going 'muticar' also for him to insure our landrover 'standalone' was over £3000, on this policy he can now drive it as well as his - the additional cost?
£200
I honestly just think they charge what they think you will pay.
just done a quote with cn and bike on drive with only 1000 miles covered and 1 years ncb it was £349
ill stick with bennets at £112 though compare the market
Anyone had to renew multi bike insurance lately, any recommends? Looking at Fully Comp insurance for a Busa (03) and a CRF250L (15) @49yrs with 6ncb and cheapest is Bikesure@£201
Just off the phone from Footman James and got a quote of £305 for all four bikes.
I had previously been told that they only insure bikes over 15 years old but, in actual factual, they will mix modern and classic. Worth knowing as it beats the Carole Nash renewal by a country mile. Slightly add as they are using the same insurer - Aegis!
Not heard back from Bemoto who made me work hard! I gave them all the necessary details for a quote but not good enough - I had to type it all again into one of their forms
Unhappy with my renewal quote from Bennetts (underwritten by Axa) , I recently used MCNCompare for a single bike quote. Carole Nash (underwritten by Axa)
was half the price.
I think MCNCompare also do multi-bike policy quotes.
Things have improved! Bikesure have quoted £278 fully comp for all four bikes, two classic, two modern(ish). European cover and legal expenses included and protected NCB. In-year changes are charged at £35 compared to Carole Nash at £40 and Footman James at £25. BUT, the big plus is they include cover for me to ride other people's bikes
I rang CN to cancel my policy and then got the hustle. Interestingly they managed to get their renewal price down from £424.90 to £293.30 but I still cancelled the policy and explained to the guy on the phone that they just put policy holders backs up when they try it on with such large renewal hikes, etc, etc.
BeMoto came in at £338 for their "titanium package". This includes legal expenses and full RAC breakdown cover including European recovery plus helmet and leathers cover and personal accident plus pillion cover.
But, so far, I think Bikesure will get my business
I was with ebike (now brightside) and had renewal through with 3 bikes for £165, said i wanted to remove one bike off poicy and renewal was then £189 How the F*** does that work out.
So I now have 2 spererate policies with 2 different insurers for 140 total.
could not get a multi bike policy for 2 bikes for nowhere as cheap as seperate poilcys, even using full no claims on 1 bike and zero on other, Them there mutlibike policys are ****e now!
