TBM praise the Shineray XY250GY-2 ?

I just read the write up on the new Shineray XY250GY chinese bike. eeeerrrrrr we all say,but hang on.
It seems as though things are improveing a little,on these cheaper imports.
I would like to see one in the flesh, but cant seem to find a UK dealer.
Zings dont list them on the website.
Your thoughts appreciated,on all aspects.
I cant justify spending over £6000 grand on the more renowned machines,KTM e.tc just for trail riding.

When you get one, can you invite me along for the ride, so that when your front wheel hits a pebble and folds like a piece of cheese I can have a good laugh, then ride away into the sunsetbiggrinbiggrin

Buy cheap, pay twicewink

You dont have to spend 6k to get a half decent trail bike. For a start dont buy a new one - that will save you half of it at least.

2k will get you something tidy, low miles/hours, that hasnt been raced or badly maintained. OK, it might be a few years old, but it will definately be better quality than a brand spanker for the same money.
Theres a Serow in the for sale section right now for 1100 quid, perfectly capable trail bike, proven Jap reliability and build quality. I know which one I'd rather have.

I,m just old enough to remember the first imports of "real" trail bikes from Japan.. 125Honda SLs 4 strokers and little Suzuki,Yamaha,Kawasakai, and Tohatsu (I bought one!) strokers...... frames were flimsy, chrome peeled off in first frost and they ran circles around what else was availiable then (5TA Triumphs!)
The East Germans were exporting som radicle machinerey for "enduro" green laning too

I did get a tad fed up with Greeves owners whistling the Red Flag and untunefully whistling the "Ying Tong" song tho!!!!

Saying that 2 wheel rebuilds with decent rims would cost £120 each???????

Time as ever will tell!

Now at Treen Motors in Crediton £2795 on the road.

Personally I would need someone like Kevin Ash, TBM or TRF members to give me the thumbs up before chucking the hard earned at it
