Hi all, I'm keen to finish marking up my os OL9 Exmoor map, all Devon lanes marked and numbered, but all goes very quiet when I cross the county line, anyone able to help?
I am still hearing mixed reports from the Trailwise (and vague and time consuming to try and track down the lanes) also after some bimblers to explore these beauties as well.
Somerset is a no-go area due to the NERC act, unless you're in the know
(Should read 'even if' not 'unless')
Because Somerset never fulfilled it's duty to reclassify Roads Used as Public Paths the NERC act had a damning effect on the number of lanes available to us in the county as all RUPPs automatically became Restricted Byways overnight as it were. No individual orders were required and the county council were rewarded for their inaction by being effectively relieved of the duty. Vehicular rights were simultaneously acknowledged and rescinded. Thusly the somerset map looks remarkably sparse. I led a lot of rides in that area and mourn the loss of some of the best lanes in the westcountry.
Is their any left then? doesn't sound good (Ideally any up and East of the River Exe) Maybe I need to repost it for the Dorset side of town? who might be best to help me mark a few maps in that area?
There are a few lanes up this way still, and Somerset TRF have a few claims on lanes at the moment. Your best bet is to register on the Somerset TRF Group forum and get along to one of their monthly meetings.
Chris.

Ditto what Chris says really... All is not totally lost up here. There are a few cracking UCR's about but lots and lots of RB's, Somerset TRF are working really hard to get the claims in and get back what should belong to us!
