Colonial of Northumbrian VMCC

Last Saturday (8th Oct) morning I set off from Devon in my motor and trailered my 1962 Tiger Cub to Northumberland for a VMCC event. smile

The Colonial is an annual event that represents the colonists trecking to uncharted roads and trails. In this case the trails are in Northumberland and Scottish Borders.

Needless to say Northumberland, being "oop norf" tends to be a bit "Grim" - but at least it was my home for more years than I care to tell and despite the persistent drizzle and cool temperature it was a really enjoyable two days. wink

The event is run under the aegis of the VMCC so all the machinery has to be at least 25 years old. The oldest was a 1930summat 500cc Norton. (see below)

I helped the organiser, Andreas (of broken leg fame) put out the direction arrows which were necessary to satisfy the Forrestry Commission for permission to use their tracks and trails through Harwood Forest. aww

Despite the overcast weather the views were impressive. The trails were also rutted and filled with slime, water and sludge. doh

The route comprised tracks and trails, green lanes, RUPPS, BOATS, Forest tracks and trails together with about 40% of the 80 mile route being on the Queen's tarmac highway.

Spot on there JT, Brian has quite a few old bikes starting with a 1913 Model C Triumph - 550cc and finishing with a modern Triumph Triple. aww

The organiser of the event is Andreas Schröcksnadel - he also rode an Armstrong in Devon but he broke his leg. bleh
