Just got back from a crackin week with Lyndon, Baz & Kaz at Torotrail in southern spain.

Im kinda minded to organize a long weekend over in spain with them for DTRFG. Whos interested?

It will be some thing like - fly easyjet from Bristol on friday, ride saturday and sunday, then flyback on monday.

I will sort the group booking with torotrail (i will need a deposit) then give you flight number which you will book yourself.

check it out at; http://www.torotrail.co.uk/  and yes it is every bit as good as it looksbiggrinbiggrin

Been there, done that.

And I too had a great time - a nice bunch of people.

When are you thinking of? I'm already booked for a Spain trip (Touratrail, not Torotrail this time)  in Early December, but would not be averse to another little jaunt should the timing fit.

Thanks,

Alex

Yeah Yeah yawn

The WR's were excellent, like little mountain goats, if fact i'm thinking of supermoto'ing the 450 and getting one for the lanes, if only to keep up with Magic Muller

bristol to malaga, easyjet
its a 6 45 am flight on the friday and we get back around 12 30 on the monday

when we were just looking into the idea about 6 weeks ago the flights were about the same prices as your talking about, guess its a quiet time of year so they made them cheaper the closer to the depature date?

Ok Guys, so here's the deal.

You can fly out on either Thursday or Friday, there are flights from exeter (flybe), or Bristol (Easyjet). Ryan Air may also fly from Bristol. The sooner you book the cheaper it is, Simples!

It will be your responsibility to book a flight.

The tototrail cost will be;

  • 2 days riding 3 nights accommodation £399
  • 3 days riding 4 nights accommodation £499

This includes

  • Airport pickup
  • Accomodation
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Bikes fuel and all riding gear
  • Excellent run leader and riding advice (should it be needed)wink
  • Return to airport

The guys will jump in the minibus and we all go our for evening meal (around e25 per night).

What i need is £100 deposit for Torotrail asap, (the longer you leave it the less chance of there being availablility for you)  The balance is payable in cash on arrival.

Thursday 5th April 2012. (Outbound)

Friday 6th April 2012

Saturday 7th April 2012

Sunday 8th April April

Monday   9th  April 2011. (inbound)

Thats the painfull bit, now for the fun;

Both Lyndon, Baz & Caz are realy cool friendly people, Debbie and me were very well looked after and wanted for nothing.

The riding is amazing and to be honest most people who visit have less ability than the average DTRF trail rider.

At no point did i feel out classed or intimidated by right hand merchants, in fact quite the opposite, I spent two days with a bunch of northern road bikers who we got to know and had a good laugh with, after 8 hours riding and a couple of ice cold beers what more could you want.

It aint cheep but it is a good adventure in capable hands, to go back with a few Devon group boys & girls would be awesome.

Booked so far;

Me

Debbie

Danny boy Fulford

Still waiting to see what's happening with our Tauratrail trip - apparently Steve has broken his collar bone, so they are offering other operators instead - may even end up back with Torotrail earlier than planned! If we do, then another trip to the same place so soon after may not be what we want.

Looks like we're going to Dust Devils instead. I was looking forward to riding the Husky 310, but we'll just have to 'Orange' it instead. there's a choice of engine sizes available which might be interesting.

Get put up in a 5* Hotel on the beach too! Hope it's sunny.

I'll report back in a couple of weeks ...

Well we all survived it (almost) uninjured.

As Dust Devils is situated quite close to Torotrail it was inevitable that we would be riding some of the same area that we did last year. Not really an issue, as the scenery is stunning and there is a huge area available.

Riding KTM EXC's, 250/400/450. I have to say that I was very impressed with the bikes, and overall preferred the 250 which was plenty for what we were doing. Apparently the 400 was very good though. Even L-plate Richard riding a 125 smoker found it sufficient for the off-road bits and only struggled to keep up when lying in a ditch!

We rode for a couple of days with a great bunch of lads from Leeds, with a range of experience between them. On the 2nd & 3rd day, we were joined by Steve Scopes, a British Enduro Champion from '92/93 who rode down to Spain on his GS1200 for the weekend. Although he may not have done much offroad for 18 years, and hasn't kept up the strict fitness regime that he used to, he was still doing very well.

One very unfortunate episode saw one of the Glenns from Leeds fly over the bars on a descent and briefly knock himself out, tearing his shoulder muscle in the process. We wish you a rapid recovery Glenn!

I even managed to ride a few miles on one of the rocky, sandy mountain passes with a completely flat front tyre, and really couldn't understand why I was finding it so difficult to get around the corners! I thought I'd lost the technique completely, but was relieved to find it was not me but the bike.

Anyway, here's a short clip of (the other) Glenn finally getting his bike to the top of a climb following a few dramatic 'almost-there' attempts:

We had a very good few days with Dust Devils - the hotel was nice, and Marbella was actually very pleasant out of season, particularly the old town. Not sure I'd want to go there when it's full of partying Brits though. Try to find a bar away from the main streets, and save significant amounts of dosh.

Having ridden the same area twice in a year, we'll probably be looking to go somewhere a little different for our next one, so I won't be joining you at Torotrail. I hope you have a good time, though.
