Awesome stuff, Steve McQueen the absolute eternal king of cool. Yep I wish there was somewhere round here like that too, Weston gets a bit overcrowded these days! There's always Dunkirk I guess!
By shear coincidence, watched the film "On Any Sunday" at the weekend. Superb!!!
Was accompanied by another DVD, "On Any Sunday Revisited" that basically tells the story of how the film was made by Bruce Brown, stories of those who participated and a glimpse of those who survived as they are now.
Well, Santa delivered and I watched it last night (and the 'revisited' disk tonight).
Fantastic. Absolutely mad, some of those guys. Wonderful to see the skill involved in handling those old 'sickles. Makes you realise how easy we have it with the newer technology (and far higher safety regs too).
I like the flat trackers best, to ride a big old HD, sideways at 100+ on a dirt oval (with a busted leg) takes big kahoonas when it goes Pete Tong they just 'lay it down'
would that have benn a $1000 Orange signal fire if it had been a KTM?
Did see another On any Sunday film where the commentator says " That will be the end of Yamaha ( or some other Japanese manufacturer?] they won't be back... and also showed a clip of Japanese mororcycle racing around a bowl... wierd... was in early seventies, but lost video somewhere!
