any one got one or a set knocking about that they dont use anymore, also be happy to hear any thoughts on anyone that has used this type of thing b4 please,
my son has an xbox in his room now and the wireless signal is a bit weak up there so was thinking about these rather than trapesing a wire under the carpet etc etc!

Not much help but I had got used to having a 30 meter ethernet cable hanging down the stairs from my lads room to the router....................... until recently, the wireless thingy inside the newer xbox now picks up fine off the talktalk router....................... apparently??
I believe there is something that will increase the distance of the wifi signal, sure someone here with a whole load more pc knowledge than me(thats not hard) will point you in the right direction....
I've got a pair that I used to connect a daughter's laptop to our broadband modem and it worked perfectly no matter where in the house she was. I only stopped using it when she moved out and, since then, I've installed a wireless router for my wife's netbook to access the NAS and broadband.
However, what was redundant, no longer is as I've just treated myself to a Popbox to connect the TV/cinema system to the NAS and will use the adaptors for that. In fact, I'm so impressed with them that I'll be buying another to connect the PC when I move it to another room and away from the modem.
I use Solwise PL-200-AV "HomePlug" adaptors (http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-av-index.htm) but others are available.
Maybe not as cheap as a few metres of Cat 5 but a whole lot easier to install.
These are good bits of kit Brownie, use mine for streaming stuff to the TV amd so on. Mine said they wouldn't work on a circuit that goes thruough the fusebox, but guess what, they do! Recommended,
