Help, where is the agony aunt section? After Greenlaning for nearly three years now, I am starting to be attracted to those orange thingies!wink

The last couple of rides out and I seem to have been surrounded by them. Is this a KTM ploy to attract more customers?!

It's just like the ads on TV, the more you see something the more you are attracted to it.

Today was just torture, first we had Delvey on his 250 two stroke. Oh the smell brought back memories of being 17 again! RD's X7's KH's DT's!!smile

If your in the same age group you'll know what I'm talking about.

Then there was that lovely noise coming from L'oranges and the Cornish duo's 450's . Reminded me of riding the KTM 525 in Turkey last year.....

What to do? Can I really get rid of the faithfull TTR and get a bike with no sidestand!? Not forgetting the oil changes at the end of each lane!wink

Or should I be sensible and go for something more exotic like those new Husky's? That would be one way of denying my  attraction.

 Had my TTR for 12 months or so.....had my 250 stroker 3 years....that must say something confuse

 

Nuff said don't listen to the 'Banter' my little KTM is genuinly the most fun bike I have EVER owned - I love it and despite many telling me I would hate it after the TTR I do not and never have regretted it for a second.

i know the feeling i to was seduced by the orange side for 18 months ..... I however was stronger than i thought and turned away from the orange side and got back on the red HONDA rules the future is red oh here we go again............

Contemplating a KTM is a little bit like making love to a beautiful woman ...you wonder if the quality is too much for you, will you look incapable and come off too soon with such a thoroughbred as your playmate? Some folk shrivel and go Red, so to speak, at such a challenge. Others appear to go blue n bulbous but have no wish to know what happens next. The most important thing to remember is that anything of beauty that provides great pleasure will need and should be looked after. So concerning yourself with the cost and time of maintaining in an appropriate manner is pointless. Get a KTM they are quality.

Yep, an absolute cutting edge light weight powerful enduro competition racing machine is the absolute minimum requirement for doing 20 mph along a dusty trail.....

Dont Buy the ktm 350xcf im sooooo over biked and im loving it ! i could buy a much more sensable steed ? even another ktm or a venerable cz/mz and still have big fun but !!! lets me get away with stuff i could only dream about on a Puch maxie ?lol

Mr Tigerman thanks for admiring the dulcet tones of our Ktm's yesterday.

One thing i have noticed is that your avatar isn't blue of say a blue bottle fly or red, black and white like a lady bird beatle or even green and black like say a frog............but Orange, Black and White like say..? winkbiggrin

ktm build quality is perfect they produce enduro bikes off the shelf unlike some witch just detune the mx vershions nd slap a plate on them gas gas are not the same quality the stands are strong enough for the bike its just stupid oafs that try to kickstart the bike on them and sit on them with the stand down

I'm quite fond of the CRF250 and am contemplating one as a 2nd bike at some point, would also consider the WR...
I love my DRZ but there were a few moments last year (in south Devon & Cornwall) where I would have gladly swapped her for BMX, hence getting a 250 as alternative for more technical rides.

I've never really been drawn to the orange things, they look nice enough but I just think a Jap bikes will last longer & need less TLC in the long run.

I am sure that most trail riders have had, or would like to have, an orange beastie in their garage at one time or another.

This was my guilty pleasure - for a short while....

I went from a green machine to a 4 stroke katoom and I have to say its by far the most fun bike Ive ever owned.

Is it overkill for the lanes ? definitely, does it put a smile on my face every time I go out on it ? every time.

mines not the newest of ktms around but having owned it for about 3 years its been a great bike.

went out to spain a few weeks back and was very nice to ride a new one for a couple of days.

A 4 stroke katoom, as Mr G Stebson says above - always puts a smile on my face. Mine is a nostalgic 2002 model still too good for me but never unkind and that is quality.

Steady now Slider Rider. I reckon, Mr Tigerman you have enough evidence above of how well appreciated Katooms are by those who know them. So I'm gonna duck off of this thread as I note my spelling can get ropier as predictive text gets the better of my eyesight although on reflection it really can be predictive.....

That's a great looking katoom 118' the LC4 motor gives you thumper status too. super cool enjoy it - dare I ask if it has the magic starter button?

Aww, thanks you guys, was a little worried about crossing the bridge to the orange side but looks like they are fairly well regarded.  I'll have to get used to the weight and height, and you're right, that kick start is a bugger, but looking forward to being able to electric start the next time I see my arse on deers leap!! Update;  just taken her to get some fuel after a mandatory lay up period for servicing and tinkering.  Stalled it 5 times... no bother, except Im waiting for parts for the starter repair.  I cant tell you how much Im aching after kicking that over.  Really feeling my 35 years tonight.  Rock on!!!

I have done 5000 miles on my 2000 LC4 400E this year. Not a problem until this morning when she has developed an intermittent engine cutout type fault. Suspect electrical, my least favorite problem, and a forced day off as she is my only transport!

Still a great bike, rock solid engineering if a little on the heavy side for very technical lanes.




Those 50mm White Power Extreme forks are things of beauty.

 Glad you find it a bit heavy too i thought it was just me.  Im only 5'7" and so will have to learn to deal with it, but compared to my CR its a bit of a beast, I just hope it handles ok off road.  Have you had problems with the infamous sprag (sprague, whatever) clutch yet?
