Our non competitive Fundays must not for insurance purposes be confused with Track Days which are for racers and require seperate insurance which your RTA insurance will not cover. See http://devongtrf.activeboard.com/t41806152/eventfunday-insurance/
The Fundays are a popular formula for days on a private track without the pressure of competition or timed laps with non road going competition machinery excluded.
The advertising which states 'If your day will be spoilt by waiting behind another rider until it is safe to pass please do not come to our events' attracts many riders who would not want to enter a competitive race event.
The events are a good shop window for the TRF which attract riders from outside the group and allow people to socialise alongside the riding.
Manpower will be needed to help set out course marking which is a good way to get a sneak preview, and to clear away afterwards, last lap anyone?
Suggestions for new venues are always welcome.
Please support Lost with ideas and offers of help to keep these events a part of our calender
I'm a relatively new member but I look forward to attending some organised events. Unfortunately the 2 I had booked in for this year have been cancelled due to weather but if there are more on the calendar then I guess there will be more opportunities to have some fun.
Once thing I would say..it would be nice to have the odd event on the western side of the county...they all seem to be further east. Unfortunately I wouldn't know about venues etc. The only track I have ridden is Brixton MotoX track just south of Plymouth. Its a great track but not sure it is what you are looking for?

I asume you have read the Insurance background info.
Primarily these events are fundraisers to pay for the Rights Of Way work.
Secondarily they are excellent social gatherings.
We need sympathetic landowners who are willing to share in the income and the risk should weather intervene. We do not want to lay out cash to pay for a track but want to share the profit/risk by splitting the take on the day.
Landowners with spare days under the 28 day rule could benefit from this.
If i am able to attend i am always happy to help set up ect at the event.
I can give you a number of different motocross and enduro tracks and numbers for them. I dont know if the owners would be up for the splitting the money and risk as pete said, so i guess all you can do is ask.
Just let me know if you get stuck an want a few more venue ideas

Just an idea Kerry ...... our landowner has expressed an interest in something like this. Maybe we could use the scramble track and take in some of the steep valley and woods over the back (Craig knows it !!!). There could be at least a couple of miles worth of non-competitive track to use. I will give you a shout soon. The profits would need to be split between DTRF, the landowner and a small bit to the Dartmouth Club for use of their equipment etc.

Good on you Kerry, its about time someone stood up.
We lost Musburry due to the change of use of the land, the farmer released his 14 day entitlement, but he enjoyed having us on the land. If you know differently or things have changed Chris go and have a word please.
Dont get to wound up about events guys, we have had a rotten pile of luck with the weather this year, the events will get rescheduled.
And please read and understand the conditions and insurance details, (hampster has recently posted a reminder on here some where).
If we are seen as promoting compertition events, thats it - end of - no more events!
If we get a problem during an event, thats it - end of - no more events, and it would also finish us as a group, its honestly that important folks!
Then who would fight to keep the lanes open? .............exactly!
So if any member knows of land availible please let us know, MX tracks are great but not much fun for novices and newbies and its pretty hard to prove its non competertive.
What we really need is a mixture of woods and fields, a short mx track is a bonus!
Well that's a start pls foreward pm me any contact details and I'll try and follow them up me I would like to see a skills day for everyone at .a control obstacle obstacles ? Not just learning the hard way in the lanes ?

Excellent idea Ian. None of those nasty bluebells, so plenty of grip .
