Officially called 4 GO MAD IN DORSET! it was a great day and just shows how much fun you can have racing on relatively cheap twinshock bikes!
I still cant believe I got a 3rd overall, especially as I didn't do so well in the last race - but great fun never the less, hopefully Craig will post up some vids.
Well done , famous four in dorset, sorry not to be there to support your efforts but hazelwood called. Look forward to seeing the vids and hearing the stories,
Superb weekend ! Excellent Saturday night with much food !!!! and a wee drop of red wine. My class was a little different, so I didn't match the boys triumphs in class D. Well done to Dan, Craig and Kerry. Some stonking rides there. There are some excellent pics on MXTRAX Vintage.

That last race was the most fun, even tho I had a bad start and was knackered! Good to see the vids and how bad my technique is! I must get my leg out straight! and why I took that wide line to let you past I'll never know!
just wish there had been a fourth race i think i was getting the hang of it lol hah thats me in the third race along side the works kawazaki runs on methonol you know !!! i want to do it all over again what say you
Is there any events like this in Cornwall or a little closer to Plymouth? Also what are the rules I.e year type of bike and engine size, I've have been looking and I can't seam to get anywhere. Cheers Dave
When you remember that Craig is riding a 12.9 HP Kawasaki you have to take your hat off in respect. I have had one of those for enduro and green laning since 1982, and trust me they are gutless. Basicly the old KL250 engine from 1977 stuffed into a 1978 KX125 A5 frame. Handles better than most bikes I have ever ridden though. All that for not alot of money.

Have a look on the AMC website, basically if it has 2 shocks you can ride, some of the early Yam monos are eligible too (up to 81)

Yep, thats the one Brian. I guess Dan was having a dixlektik moment. The rules are .... twin shock, drum braked, air cooled. Converted mono shocks are allowed (sort of) but frowned upon. The Yamaha mono's, as Dan points out are classified as "twin shocks" as they were around at the time and have no linkage. For those in South Devon or below, the Dartmouth Club has a meeting this Thursday at the Pig & Whistle pub on the Totnes to Newton Abbot road at about 8pm. Small club, but friendly and hard working. Anyone interested is always welcome. For East Devon there is the Devon Classic club that meets somewhere I have no idea ! I am sure Dan will fill that blank space in

There aren't any AMCA Cornish Classic clubs as far as I am aware. If you are starting out, and won't be riding more than 4 meetings a year, it is just as cheap to do it on a day licence. Usually £10 on top of the entry fee of around £35 ish. Getting your entry in early for a day licence helps !

There was a tidy YZ 250 for sale at the meeting, it was 1980 I think, for about £2,000 - providing it was sorted that sort of bike would be very competitive, but there's someone competing this year on a chopped down TS 250 and he isn't coming last! and someone else on a KLX 250 - takes all sorts!

Some of the ACU clubs run classic events too - I heard someone talk about a Cornish Bonanza, but that might have been last year!
