I am on the hunt for a new bike, but am not sure if I should stick to a 400/450cc bike or go for a 250/300cc 2 stroke. The thing is that I am a big bloke and was wandering if the smaller bikes would cope with me. I had a DRZs previously which took me everywhere I required it to take me,but as we all know they are quite a bit of a heavy lump. So I am now looking for something lighter. I am 17 stone (maybe more- I know I should go on the Herbalife) and would appreciate some input on this.... Please no "go on a diet tips" lol
May sound like a dumb ass question, but I don't want to be stuck with a bike that struggles with me aboard it.
im a big bloke 18.5 stoke and 6ft 2 and i love my crm smoker it pulls me no problem, i even cleaned devils steps sunday, with hardly any fuss, the only thing that would be nice is electric foot, but if you dont mind kicking go for 2t. your welcome to have a go on mine anytime.
Romdobs has a very, very nice Husaberg 2T. Watching him the other day was poetry in motion. Maybe try one of those. It also has the Leccy boot. Fuel consumption was slightly better than my 390 2T. 30 plus mpg was the order of the day.

i got a 300 katoom smoke with leccy boot for off road/endurocross mx can be rode like a trials bike or like you stole it, if you, ride it like that i promise you that once in every outing you will be trying to wind the power off to avoid it dumping you off the back, 10 kg lighter than my greenlaner 525 both will have more power than you will ever need.btw i am only 13.5 stone. never said that b4 .hoc
Less is more - 250 is more than enough for laning and the occasionaly sanctioned blat. 2T as less to go wrong. Take your pick but just remember you have your own mind and you don't have to follow the crowd...
Not ridden the KTM but had an 05 Gasser 250 and it was hard to ride well (for me......)
Seemed it either wanted to wheelie or spin up. Difficult to get traction and even the local, better riders had trouble kickstarting it in gear. You don't think it's a problem until you stall it halfway up a snotty climb and have to find neutral before kicking it over....then getting it in gear before pulling away.
Just this one hassle made me change to a 4 stroke with leccy start.....and engine braking

All good comments Ming and I agree - but I love my stroker cause you have to 'work' at it and it makes me smile like the TTR never did - can't say I have ever tried (or had the need) to try to kick it over in gear, must give it a go in the morning
I rode a TTR up 192 079 a few weeks back and it made me realise just how much 'easier' it was on a 4t, It didn't feel like it was trying to kill me
Certainly never a dull moment with a stroker - you need to be prepared to know it will expect more effort from you to ride it, and in return it will give you the ride of its life (a bit like a fine woman really -- a 2T would like having a night with Angelina Jolie in crotchless Lara Croft gear and a 4T more like an night with Susan Boyle).
The 300 option is a big step up from 250 a lot lot more go on tap be very gentle with right hand they will lug in second gear well but can be ballistic on top is that what you want ! The 250 T2 Fuel consumption there the same as a 450 T4 same power out put think burns fuel every stroke unlike every other simple want economy get a 250 T4 crf/wrf are very comp and can be made to go ? So if your looking at 300 hope your as good as we all think we are lol lost

Although once all the 2 smoke oil finally clears from your eyes & lungs (and you finally come back down) you realise that it was actually Lord Croft that you've just spent the night with... Angelina was there for a moment but had to leave as she was physically sickened by it all...
I have a husaberg 450 it makes me grin from ear to ear takes me everywhere plenty off low down grunt and traction, will lift the front wheel with no hesitation too and on the road will break the speed limit if you want it too. fuel consumption is very good too, and easy to service. would love to try the new husaberg 300 2stroke though!!!
Travelled down to Redruth earlier and had a little go on a CRM250 (MK2) that I'm interested in. As you all know, quite an old bike but felt like it had the potential to be great fun. What's your views on that one to then?
Picked up the CRM today and am looking forward to getting out and about on Sunday on it. Gonna rip it apart tomoz to make sure all is ok first... Also picked up my Grandad's Honda 250 Super Dream today. Gonna restore it back to its former glory ......(not sure about the glory bit?)lol. Will keep me well occupied.

I had one of those for a day in 1981 whilst my GSX250 was having something done at Bridge (can't remember what )
I'd wanted one when I was younger, can't remember why I got the GSX instead but my only real memory of the Superdream was that it was much faster in 5th than 6th .
Good luck with the resto, I love seeing 70's & 80's bikes on the road today.
Good old wet dreams. I had one for a few months whilst waiting on an insurance claim after I crashed my Gpz600r. Handled like the worse thing on earth, revved like fook and went nowhere fast. I miss that bike lol.
