Just started to do my homework for a replacement TV (46" - 50"). It's a minefield out there, like usual, and so easy so get on the stepping stone price incrementer (when you look at the first TV for £500, then find its better model for £600, then £700 and each time you find a small feature that sounds real good for just a small price increase - and before you know it your another £500 higher than when you started). So budget wise like to keep nicely below £1000.
Not overly bothered whether active or passive 3D-TV (pros and cons to both), but some nice on-line and browsing features would be good.
I know LG make pretty decent TVs - I also know Skoda build pretty decent cars -- but I'm not sure I'll ever buy either of these!! I guess its their early reputation of being low quality budget busters that sticks with me and many others.
Steering towards Samsung, in particular this model http://www.whathifi.com/review/samsung-ue46es6800. (The ES7000 version of this looks/sounds so much better but it's another £400 - so I must not go there ). Richer sounds as usual seem to have best price (especially as 5 yr guarantee comes as standard). I also dont want a TV of similar price only to find you they have no 3D glasses and they cost £50 each (how can they do this????).
After all this I will have a lovely 42" Panasonic Plasma TV to sell...........watch this space.
Any budding expert's thoughts please (and No Russ, I dont want a Honda TV )

Go Samsung. We have a 50inch lg with crap pic. A 47 inch lg with crap sound. A 42 Samsung perfect and a Samsung ES6100 60" Smart TV in the living room and the diff compared to a lg is mad. Samsung all the way for me. I know most are spose to be made by lg but the Samsung seems to be so much better built.
Samsung are one of the main players when it comes to LCD screen manufacture, and use to make most of them anyway. My pops had an earlier Samsung and I though the picture wasn't all that. He's now got a Sony and that is very good.
Just looked at the name on the monitor I'm using now... Samsung lol
Have tried to find a Honda one before Mark but never managed it always had Sony myself but the last two we bought have been Samsung you can't go wrong mate great picture i don't think they make orange ones as they kept falling off their stands
Wish I'd known you were selling one. Bought a 42" LED TV yesterday for £250. No wifi or 3d, but at that price it is less painful when the kids hit it with the wii remote!
I bought a Pioneer 'KURO' several years ago after doing mucho homework. Cost me £1500 back then and that was expensive then let alone by today's standards!! It's a corking TV but even if you wanted one Pioneer don't make 'um anymore
Good luck with the search, more choice out there than mobile phone tariffs I bet!?
We saw a £75000 one in harrods this year. What a joke.
Well I got the new tv tonight. The Samsung one I listed above. First impressions are its awesome and the reality of the picture takes some getting used to. Also tried the up scaling from standard 2d to 3d, thinking that would be quite naff, and on a decent movie it was excellent.
