KTM low seat...... any good?

has anyone got or tried a slim seat?

i have an 07 plate so the seat for mine will lower 20mm.   doesnt sound like much but does it make a difference?

dont want to have the suspension shortened as i cant afford to and i dont want to have to make the bike stiffer to stop botteming it out.

Cant cut the subframe cos the rear spring will rub against the air box.

i also notice that for 2013 ktm have gone back to dog bone links for the sx models.   easyier to lower.

I've got a low one. Try that see if you like it.

I had a low seat on my 07 250 and despite it only being 20mm lower it did make a difference

Have you tried running a bit extra sag on the rear? you could then also drop the forks in the triple clamps about 20mm

Hope that helps,

Butty

Thanks vikings,  i will call you tomorrow.

Well i thought about that, i tried with a bit more sag which was fine on trials but it just felt aweful in the races when i jump or go fast down a woops/ bumpy section.  I atually have a stiffer spring in there so that it works better. (for me anyway).  and i like to try and keep the settings the same everytime i ride to keep me used to it.  the front forks are dropped through a bit to help with handling anyway.

thanks for the advice though.

How do you find a slimmer seat on your bum? My standard KTM seat is like wood, god only knows what it'd be like if it was thinner...

It's ok tbh. I've got the step seat now and like that. But the low one feels the same on ya ass as the short ass seat!

Well thats the thing!!  KTM have been tricky here.

On most of the jap bikes there is a large amount of foam, so you can cut a big chunk off.     so i went to do that to my ktm seat, only to find that they have moulded the plastic in the seat like an up turned boat!   so were only sitting on a thin strip of foam.  And we have to fork out £99 for a new slim seat!
