Just to add the confusion, i am just going up 15 on the front and 50 back on the new Husky 449 even though its a 6 speed it does run out of puff on the road to quick for my liking. Check out the CTS (Coxial traction system) which goes against the grain of having a tight chain, on this system it has to be tight = less wear, cue RICHT4
Another good thing the swing arm bearings are on the outside.

Hi I am looking to change my front / rear sprocket and chain on my 2007 yamaha wrf 250 its got the standard 52/ 13 at the moment . What is the best set up ? I only use the bike for trail riding and the usual a to b on the Tarmac to get from lane to lane any thoughts much appreciated . Thanks kev
13 tooth front sprockets wear chains out fairly quickly so you may want to go to 14 on the front with another four teeth on the rear in order to keep the same gearing if you are happy with it.
I'm sure my Wr250f had 14/52 and was fine. I know Pete has suggested going up on the rear if you fit a larger front - but that's only if you want to keep the gearing closely matched. In my opinion 14/52 will suit laning very well (including the road work in between).
