An English and Scottishstatussurname for someone who was in charge of the horses of a royal household, or an occupational surname for someone who looked after horses, or was responsible for the custody of prisoners.
I hate to be pedantic but marshal (as in "A person in charge of a parade or ceremony") has only one L.
Martyn
No need to hate being pedantic when public image is at stake. Either that or everyone changes their name to Marshall for the day When did these vests come in? I know I haven't done a horse event for a while but I'm not liking them. Are they compulsory and if so, says who? Not bring contentious, just interested that's all.
The feedback from some or the horse events organisers is that some of the public are very curious to know why we are there on motorcycles at these events, and occasionally think that we have just drifted onto the course by mistake. It just makes us seem a little more official at these type of events, plus advertising the TRF does us no harm either.
