Thanks for all this advice. Breakfast was duly taken this morning at Duckies. We were on road bikes today as familly duties only allowed a few hours out.
I have to say that the ambience and service at the Sea Shanty Cafe at Branscombe wasn't a patch on Duckies
Having guessed that my group may have stopped for lunch at Beer on Saturday, I planned for lunch at Branscombe today. It was OK but very touristy and I was a bit disappointed - also no pasties on offer

You should have asked Bri, Whereas Duckies gets a lot of local custom no locals go to the Sea Shanty only Grockles. The Old Bakery opposite the forge is a lot better Guy the chap that runs it does some superb cakes

We stop there when walking the woofers from Weston Mouth to Branscome & back.
An excellent walk along the coast path with great Soup & cakes half way
