We have now formed 'core Offroad events' to provide good quality, well organised practice events in the southwest.
The first of 5 events in 2013 will be held at Ashcombe near Exeter on our exclusive 200 acre forestry site. Track layout Is well underway with one large central loop which is suitable for all abilities, we will then have a number of alternative routes, climbs, drops and tricky sections to challenge the more experienced rider.
It is an all weather track and car park so will not be cancelled last minute, £25.00 per rider ( not per bike so feel free to bring trials bikes as well). Any tyre, catering, toilets and medical cover provided.
The way I've laid the track takes that into account, there is a large loop which is fairly hard packed so it will always stay rideable. Some of the tricky sections will become a bit more of a challenge though. To be honest it's going to be a toss whether a trials tyre or knobbly will be best.
Unfortunately the insurance won't allow any under 16's to ride as the risk of injury is much greater, not due to ability but down to physical size. There's a lot of 9 and 10 year olds who can get round a track much quicker than a lot of adults but if a 9 year old on 65cc bike comes in contact with a 15 stone adult on a full size trail bike the outcome isn't going to be very pleasant.
I am currently in discussions with the underwriters for future events to see if there is anyway of incorporating the kids. One idea was to close the track to adults for an hour or so in the middle of the day to allow kids to ride in relative safety, another was to allow them to ride for the first or last parts of the day. The other idea we came up with could be to allow the kids to ride the afternoon of the Saturday before the event when the track is fully laid anyway.
What are your thoughts as riders, ultimately it's your day so let me know and I'll do what I can to accommodate.
Looks like it will be a good place to ride. If I wasn't dioing the Taffy Dakar in Wales that weekend I would be going. Will keep an eye out for the next one!!

Can't wait for this..... Any T&C's or requirements Wardy?
Yes...have a great day !
please ensure bikes are safe to ride and correctly silenced. There will be a machine check before you are allowed on the track where kill switches, throttle and brakes will be tested.
Had a walk of the track with Joe tonight, Something for everyone, Some nice easy forest tracks, plenty of alternate routes for those that fancy the tricky stuff. Its going to be a great day. Not to be missed !!!! Cant wait
Woods are patrolled so please do not go walking or riding up there with out permission

Thanks to all that supported our event today, especially to the marshals who put in loads of time and effort both yesterday and today.
The day went without a hitch and was supported by 150 riders, out of the hundreds of miles ridden today the only injury that had to be dealt with was a grazed elbow ! We were incredibly lucky to have such fantastic weather and a great venue which hasn't been used for a motorcycle event for the best part of 20 years.
Thanks again to all who helped and supported our first event, we are now looking forward to the next in 5-6 weeks time. Venue TBC.
Now enough talking, will somebody please get some pictures and video posted !!!!!!
Good day out fun was had by all . Last event was south west enduro round in 1997 I know I rode it it was a horrible day not like the sunshine we had today well done to all involved be looking forward to what other venues you have
Awesome day, As Matt has already said all went real smoothly, Only 2 recoverys had to be done with the quad, one honda 125 with a fried clutch and the other was a ktm
Top day & fabulous course, totally cream crackered come the end, I'll definitely keep a look out for the next one, huge thanks to all those involved in the preparation and running of this event.
Justin.

As I have no 'dirty bike' at the moment, I was not at this event ! But it looks like a cracker. Maybe it's time to get another KTM, (the only bike to ride)

Finally managed to sort out one of the vids from Sunday. I worked out I missed the best bits of the track as I forgot to turn the camera on. Part two will follow when I can work out why it's only coming out in 480P. It was filmed in 720-30p. I guess I have goofed with the uploading. Anyway, enjoy it (turn the sound up !). The old bikes are just as much if not more fun than the newer ones. (I'm biased)
