nah, I'm still steering her towards the diesel variety.
I don't trust the 1.8T engine once they have a few miles on them, I read they have oil sludge issues due to high temps from the turbo...
Anyway..., the 110 & 130hp diesel engines go well enough to get her into trouble.
Id go for the full fat version, turbo charged, fuel injected, tyre smocking nitrous burning and any thing else they can bolt or hang on it. But that's just my unbiased opinion and I reserve the right to sloping shoulders if it ends up as a heap of smouldering scrap. Can't help but remember all those old skoda jokes, like how do you double the value of a skoda, fill it with fuel. What do you call a skoda with twin exhausts, a wheel barrow, and what do you call a skoda convertible, a skip. Hope that helps

Since the fall of the Wall, Buying a Skoda has been a cheap way of buying a VW/Audi. Every nut and bolt is stamped with it and the same tech is in them. Those rear engined old Skodas were good in trials too. I think you lied when you said without prejudice (or something) GC
Chris, well I remember those old rear engined things, and taking the rear seat out, then cutting a hole in the rear floor just to adjust the clutch, the correct method was to drop the engine and transaxle unit out adjust the clutch and put it all back again.
However I saw a programme once on pre war car racing, and then the car to beat was a Skoda
