Steve. Crf 230 would be ideal.  For laning and ldt,s they are superb.  The f model is the  better model is the best provided  she can put up with the piss   taking about the rear drum brake  which is exactly the same as my 72 xl 250. No wonder honda didn't change it, never  let me down

The engine contrary to popular option is based on the tl 125 trial bike the crankcases share the same part numbers not the xl 185, it is  usable bike and has never let me down and carried my weight to many placest that have stopped other bikes in there tracks. It's light weight easy to pull out of bogs etc air cooled

The down side it only electric start if the small battery goes flat, you are buggered. Which is why my next project is to fit a tl 125 kick start to mine  saying that I have had mine for four years and would not part with it, and the second hand  price reflects what most people think 07models are still  making  2  grand and worth every penny, in fact they are making more now than they sold for new, not many other bikes can say that

They are not fast, Nor a competition  bike but they last Honda build quality at its best and worth every penny a word of warning beware the CCM 230 a copy but no where as good

If your sis wants to try one give me a call and she can try mine. But it's not for sale she can find her own

Jane S (my sister) has a WR250R that she loves but she struggles to move it around it cos of the height & weight.

It's been lowered (Justin Gibbs re-worked shock) but still finds it difficult.

We both feel that a smaller, lighter bike would be better for her so any suggestions?

She wants elec start so most 2 smokes are out I suppose.

Would prefer straight swap or cash her way, she just changed her car.

Haven't valued it yet, she's not certain she wants to change but there's lots of extra's inc a virtually brand new back wheel with new MT43 on it.

How new do they go though? She would like something fairly modern.

WRR 276 lb

CRF230 249 lbs

Serrow 238 lb

Beta Alp 293 lb

A Serrow could be a possibility

Pampera would be good - but no leccy boot and you won't find a new one.

Yes, thanks, & spoken to the owner.

He doesn't want a part ex so she'd have to sell the WRR first.

Thats the one, she's over the moon.

Caravan steady as a rock. A bit windy for an hour with some rain but nowhere near what we were expecting.

Walked the dogs late last night under a starry sky & this morning under a blue one.

Winds starting to pick up now though.

I'm sorted (subject to mot this week) with a crf230 which I'm really excited about. I'm now going to do an oscar style thank you speech:

Thanks to my bro, our chairman for setting up my bike 'swap'. I don't seem to have much time to browse the forum and tbh, I don't understand most of what everyone talks about!

And I really appreciate everyone who took the time to reply to Steve's post with interest and suggestions. TRF people are the greatest!

Special thanks to Olly for coming with me to view a crf And checking it over for me. Pints and a photo shoot coming up! And of course, for buying the wr!

And thanks to Jacki for offering to come with me to view another one (sold before we could), the coffee and a ride later in the week!

You are all wonderful but I've gone on long enough.

Dont forget to buy your Nathan Milward tickets. Should be a great night!
