Ten Tors LDT - about 160 solos - starts and finishes near Red Post - first bike away at 8.30am - 14 sections and a special test - two sections are "challenging" hill climbs which only a few clean. (Four made the top of the last hill climb last year). Fills up VERY quickly.
Quite similar to the West of England Motor club's Moor to Sea which has gained a reputation for being a harder event since it became part of the national trail bike championship.
I haven't done this for several years but plan to enter this year.
I dont think they do pdf mate its a self addressed envelope job but i dont think they have been sent out yet so there is still time. Shall I get you a copy of mine when they arrive??
From what I remember last year - as a very late entry who went round to Mrs Life's house to hand in my form - she had them all there in a big pile ready to send out together. Don't think you'll get them too early as also includes the route - and they don't give you weeks to learn that!
To be honest I've not heard of anyone being refused entry. And if yours is in already I think you can assume you are in.
The route card is not sent out until the week before the event, to prevent unsportsmanlike practising and problems for landowners who have given permission for their land to used by the club on the day of the event.
With all the Rekluse equipped riders doing it this year it will be good to see how you get on. I can count at least 10 riders doing it from on here that have them now. Can't wait. Will be a few of my old bikes doing it aswell. Wooooo hoooo can't wait. Lots of the Cornish boys coming up
You will have a couple of days in which to translate the Lefts and Rights onto your memorymap if you so choose.
I seem to pick up a crowd as I go along, passing people at junctions fiddling with sheets of paper trying to work out where they lost track of the route they tend to latch on when they spot someone who doesn't look lost.
A route card in the form of a description of the entire route from start ti finish made up from the appropriate L, R & SO annotations for the directions to go Left Right or Straight On at each and every junction along the way, is posted to all competitors a few days before the event.
I don't think there is anything to prevent anyone creating their own route to follow beforehand using Memorymap to make navigation easier, although any sections across private land could be difficult to plot accurately.
Can't understand people that don't attempt the hill you can roll in and get a 3 now it was a bit more of a challenge when the marking started at 10 you had to give it a good go to get a low score
I recall Vic Ashford (a very skilled and experienced expert trials rider) getting two thirds of the way up before he parted company with his bike, and did three and a half backward somersaults before landing at my feet. After three attempts at climbing back up to retrieve his machine he gave up and sent his son Jim up to fetch it. I was dead chuffed with a five, nearly a four, and dead scared when it came to riding back down.
I've had quite a few 1 but always seemed to fail just before the 0 best I ever got was 2 feet from the 0 and sat there spinning couldn't get grip and that was on a 125 yz and it's getting harder every year
I'll be doing my usual chore of bike catching on the hill climb in Penny's !
From memory last year only 3 cleared it, with a fair bit of paddling. If you get as far as me ..... say hello on the way past

I'll be transferring the route card to Memory Map for my Road Angel as usual, so if anyone wants a copy of the .mmo file, just send me a pm with your email address.
You may have to adjust the turns to your taste, as I put them in early, but it shouldn't take you long.

When you get your entry and the route card there will be a list of who is competing and their start times.
Riders will start at two per minute from about 8. Treat the start time as an advisory.
Look for a familiar name and tag along.
