is it to late now and do you have to be a member of a club to join as im not yet
Yes, apparently, I had a phone call yesterday from someone who has had their cheque returned. You will note my post of 23rd October "Fills up VERY quickly."
You do need to be a member of a club, but it does not need to be the Totnes motor club.
Come along and watch. The hillclimb at the end of the day is in the field to the right of 202-099, go through the gate after the ford, badgers guaranteed, probably 1.30 - 2pm onward..
sorry pete but i have no idea of what those numbers mean i can only asume there a lane coordinate of some sort but sound good i would like to see it

The Devon TRF database of legal lanes is available to current paid up members in several forms, mmo, csv kml, to suit various media and gps devices. To obtain the latest up to date version showing well over a thousand Devon lanes send a request by e-mail to
johnleah@blueyonder.co.uk
Include your national TRF membership number as confirmation of current membership.
There is also a paper map marking 'service' with a donation to the fighting fund requested to mark up a map supplied by you. Details and contacts are in the welcome pack given to new members.

No chance now.
I phoned and spoke to Ann Life yesterday re any chance of late entry. She has a waiting list of 15 and turning everyone else away. Strongly advised early booking next year and said all places were taken within a week this year.

Avoid becoming a big group.
It only requires one of your group to struggle or have mechanical problems and you find your whole group waiting while another group passes.
When we had groups of 5 or 6 we usually ended up riding in the dark with the course closer hot on our heels.
Conversly, with two of you its easy to get past a slow rider and find yourself passing the rest of his group who have to wait for him.
When we did this, we often found ourselves following the course opener and had to take a lunch break to allow the course to open up enough for a few to ride ahead of us and define the route in the sections.
Riding back down Pennys wood hill is a real test as you have to let the wheels rotate and you seem to gather speed very quickly, making the right turn at the bottom eerrrr interesting .......
I would run no more than 6psi in the rear for the day and would drop it to almost flat for the hillclimb. This means carrying the electric pump.
The more seriously you take LDT's, the worse you seem to do.
Get a 3 or a 5 in early, then you dont have to fret about how well you are doing.
I got some good results after early disasters and its a lot more fun when you stop worrying about your points.
If I do get in for the Ten tors where can i get race numbers such short notice in Newton abbot/Exeter area? Too late to get them off internet as away tomorrow if details come, so only a few days left.
They supply a small piece of paper at sign-in with your entry number printed on, which you can tape to your front numberboard (or helmet!) it only has to be seen by the section marker, who's usually standing in section pretty close to you and gets a good chance to read my number when I'm picking my bike up!
I use the numberplate sized stickers from Halfords/Revs West or Trago.
I'm still waiting for my entry to arrive. Possibly tomorrow.
I have a friend who's submitted his entry and now can't make it, so that will allow one on the reserve list to enter. I will advise Ann tomorrow.
Bri and I last did Ten Tors in 1995 and I still have my event log, the sad git that I am. Yes, I remember Penny Wood... All I recall is getting in the rut at the bottom, revving the KDX til she was smokin, took off like an idiot, got into 2nd and kept the throttle pinned Scared the livin daylights out of me! Didnt think I was going to stop at the top and had visions of ploughing into the trees and brambles According to my notes I had MT43 rear with both tyres at 8psi Ahhhhhhhh, just seen the reason why I made it to the top......... I munched Mars bars all round hee hee (didn't do pasties back then...)
My notes section ends with the words "Excellent fun"
My total was 58 I took 48.57 on the special test, Brian 44.02 and Noel did it in 40.67
Noel only scored 19 which got him a 2nd class award at 18th out of 140 riders
thanks for the info re numbers for the bike. also cheers to the core boyz for the offer of numbers from their bus. nothing in the post tonight either. baaahhh! are there enough petrol re fills on the way? ...getting a bit excited now. sorry.
Very likely. Knaves Ash cross is at the North end of Bittam's lane opposite there and in the past there has been a section in the wood by Bittam's barn which could be the place, the gate near the dip in the middle of the lane. It shouldn't be possible to get lost so close to the start.
Nothing in the post for me today. Is my name on the start list? Number?
Is there plenty of parking at the start Point? And how long should it take?
Plenty of in field parking. I Recognise a few TRF members names and a few non members too. Hope you all have a great time and see if you can beat my finishing position of last year think it was 120 something cant make it this year but will be back next year
Anyone the route sheet in the post yet ? I can see I've got in from the above start list but haven't had anything yet or do you get the route at the start venue ?

Cheers Russell, will try my best, starting at 173. So lot's of places to make up!

Some have theirs already.
I expect mine tomorrow.
You should have a day or two to decipher the route card.
Gonna be an interesting section in the lane after the hill climb nick always wanted to include it as it's a decent area but never had in the past as loads of people walk down the lane to witness the spectacle of the hill . weather looks ok at mo though
Thanks for posting the route Daniel my postbox is still very empty.
Does anyone know if the Dart bridge over the dual carriageway is still closed to traffic from Buckfastleigh wanting to travel toward Totnes?
If so there is going to be a problem just after mid day when people try to follow the 'TR over dual carriageway' instruction after the roundabout at Buckfastleigh.
it looked closed last week as i drove past on the a38,like you say that is going to be interesting, surely they would have routed around it as its been like that there for a a while now!
Well that was a whole lot of fun. Managed not to fall off at all, until Penny's Wood hill climb, obviously. Good to see so many familiar faces along the way, and lots of smiles. Saw one or two badgers, well a sett full really, and I have 17Gb of video footage to review over a beer later before the editing and uploading to Youtube.
The catchers at Penny's Wood were working hard. Thanks for helping pick the CRM up Ian. What had you done to offend Craig? He was the only one to run you down.
Well done to all the riders, i didn't get a entry but watched some sections
Lots of Pennys wood footage and Nick life you are some rider! and the guy who cleared the hill first I think people was called him John made it look so easy
What a event it is

i don't know what my score was but I think it will be massive But I did find the courage to have a proper go at pennyswood and got rewarded with a 2 so happy with that.
Brilliant day made even better by Tribey's Sat Nav route. I didn't need to look at the criptic instructions once! Proper aching now so JD to the rescue.
Good riding in good company. Awesome
