Great day and a real eye opener, a big thank you to Craig, rob and nick for letting me tag along. Well done to all those who attempted Penny's, my nerve went once I watched a few people!
Well that was a whole lot of fun. Managed not to fall off at all, until Penny's Wood hill climb, obviously. Good to see so many familiar faces along the way, and lots of smiles. Saw one or two badgers, well a sett full really, and I have 17Gb of video footage to review over a beer later before the editing and uploading to Youtube.
The catchers at Penny's Wood were working hard. Thanks for helping pick the CRM up Ian. What had you done to offend Craig? He was the only one to run you down.
A very large tree was always the safest place to stand with 99.99% of the entrants ! Stupidly I forgot Craig's affinity with trees. He always manages at least one tree climb on most events.
At least Fred had a soft landing ...... me ! Next year I shall stand in the middle for Craig's accent

First time on the ten tors and loved it! Never done anything like that before, will definitely be practising my low speed control, think I only cleared 3 sections? a few with 1 dab, some with a couple of dabs and a bit of paddling on a couple, Ha ha. Made a right mess of biddam, had a go at penny hill, not sure if I made it to gate 2? But worth at try and paddled up the last section, was right knackered by then!
Well done to the organisers and the marshal's, I had a fantastic day!
Steve, nothing wrong with your high speed control the way you rode that left hand bend with the vertical bank 4' off the ground was unbelievable, not seen anything like that before... wish I had a camera. I'm sure Clive enjoyed his first trip out greenlaning hope he hasn't regretted signing up after a skinful in the pub when we shoved the entry form in front of him
All in all a brilliant event didn't do well on some of the sections especially the 1st one as I went straight through the gate before I realised Not all bad though... even managed to give it a handful at Pennys hill.
A big thank you to the orginisers and markers for making it happen.
Not everybody made the top of the steep hill, but some did and the roots were slightly less slippery than usual and the dry soil afforded at least some grip. Ian and Fred caught most of those who failed and helped return them safely back down, or at least those who didn't try to run them down. I returned to spectate and film until my camera battery ran out and it got dark. The last few who rode the hill by headlight paid the price for delays earlier in the day and time wasted queueing at the special test and section 3. Lots of good humour, skill and bravery on display. Enjoy.
