Exeter Trial Spectating Next Saturday Morning 4th January 2014

Want to spectate as the Exeter Trial 2014 comes past your local lane next Saturday morning?

Here is a list of the section opening times and DTRFG lane numbers.

The trial can be expected to take about five hours from first to last competitor passing through a section.

03.15am    192-122
04.10         192-090
04.45         192-127
05.20         202-320 (TRO lifted during the event)
07.35         191-041
08.00         191-055   First motorcycle due 08.00 and last car due 12.55
10.40         191-088   First motorcycle due 10.40 and last car due 15.35
11.00         191-089
12.15 pm   202-053

Advice from the MCC on spectating at Fingle or Simms here

http://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/events/exeter_spectate.htm

I will be at Simms with my camera expecting to see people doing things like this

if they are lucky

Or this

if they are not

And using completely inappropriate machinery

with style.

Should be a good atmosphere as several hundred spectators usually gather for the spectacle.

I look forward to your video Jack.

Anyone else going to watch the spectacle pass by, there or anywhere else?

If you approach form the south you will meet every competitor coming the other way. Ilsington is to the North of the hill and all competitors will be driving up Simms then turning left down Lenda lane before going up Tipley Hill .

Don't try to go down 191-088, or up 191-087 or down 191-089 or you will cause chaos.

Had an enjoyable few hours at Simms today watching the trial.  Have never really watched the cars attempt the hill as have been keen to get to the finish when entered. Amazing really to see some cars rearing up as they hit the humps. Also enjoyed a nice pasty and cuppa at the village hall, home via the Widecombe lanes and stayed dry which was a bonus! nice day out.

Recognised a certain CRM in the hedge at the bottom of the hill, didn't see you though Pete .smile

Yes, all the best to you Pete, hope youre feeling better, looked like a  nasty cut and a big shock from our viewpoint on the bank on the other side of the hill.

Simms bit back.

I count myself lucky to have some lacerations not worth stitching and a broken nose. Still have two good eyes and no broken teeth so it could have been a whole lot worse. I will have two black eyes tomorrow for sure.

Look for the stone that broke my nose as it flys above the hand holding the program

Ow. Starting on the medicinal cognac now.

The message did come across to us at Tipley Pete. Hope you are ok. The description given didn't sound like you. More like a handsome fella

We decided today to ask ATS if they want to open a tyre depot 2/3 of the way up Tipley ! It got a little tedious helping tired competitors to change wheels ..... quickly !  biggrinbiggrin

A cracking day though.

What a horrible way to get stoned, Pete. doh

I hope you recover quickly. I'm sure it won't prevent you from riding.

Crikey Pete, what a freak accident, but thankfully you were very lucky not to be more seriously injured.

You even managed to film your own injury, top stuff.

And was that John Heal as your glamorous first aider?

Get well soon.
