Missing Run Sheets?

The recent 'Memory Map' thread hinted at the possibility that I may not receive all the overlay requests that have been e-mailed to me which, if true and some do go missing, do Run Sheet submissions also disappear into the ether?

It's easy for the originator to tell as I always send an acknowledgement e-mail so has anyone sent them to me and not received an acknowledgement? If so - or even if you think so - please resubmit (duplicates are identified so not a problem). Numbers of Run Sheets/Track Logs are down massively and this may be one reason.

Cheers,

John

I know I don't send that many, but when I do you always send acknowledgment. Will try harder to send in more.

Cheers

Steve

RE: Missing Run Sheets? - Solved (probably)!

I think I've finally got to the bottom of this and, I'm ashamed to confess, it's me after all - well, not me but 'my' ISP: Virgin Media.

I use Outlook to download live from Virgin and manage my e-mails. Outlook has a Junk folder that I regularly inspect and correct anything Outlook erroneously thinks is suspicious.

When doubt was cast over my not receiving all my e-mails I logged onto Virgin's website to confirm my Inbox there matched my Outlook Inbox (plus filed items) and it did.

Today, after an exchange with a member over possible missing Run Sheets, I looked again at Virgin and found they have their own Spam folder which contains e-mails they have intercepted so have not reached the Inbox let alone Outlook. This hitherto unknown repository of spam did, indeed, contain a lot of dross BUT... it also contained important Run Sheets and Overlay requests! The puzzle is just what algorithms do Virgin have in place that sentences mail from already accepted and trusted senders?

Unfortunately this discovery has a sting in the tail in that Virgin's online spam folder have a rolling thirty day holding policy so anything older than that has been deleted meaning any Run Sheets or Track Logs sent prior to that AND FOR WHICH YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM ME have not been received so please resend. Don't worry about duplicates as I have checks in place to intercept them.

So, again let me offer apologies but this should act as a warning to others who automatically download their e-mail to their PCs that you need to occasionally log onto your ISP and check there.

Cheers,

John
