Tear offs

Maybe old news but I recieved my copy of the ACU mag this morning and I notice that "tear offs" are to be banned from Jan 2015.

About BL**DY time too.

If there is one thing that must pee off locals, ramblers, land owners, forestry and the event clearer upperers, it must be numerous tear offs.

Roll off have been around for years so there has never been an excuse. just need the occasional fettle.

Lets hope that everyone takes it on board.

Gripe over - tee hee.

i totally understand the litter issue.

Can you recommend a decent set of roll offs? ive tried rip n roll but i cant stand them. get plastered in mud and all you get is a small strip of clean to view, and if it rains the rain gets behind them an stays there no matter how much i roll.

at least with tear offs i get totally clear vision from mud and rain, and even when the rain gets under them i can lose them all an use a rag to clear them.

any better brands would be great!!

Ive used Smiths / cheapest / never had a problem.
I understand what you say about the strip, but it is something you get used to / have to get used to.
Ive only ever used for racing so the red mist tends to make up for the lack of vision - tee hee.
There are little things you can do to fettle them, ie a bit of insulation tape suitably folded sorts the water between etc.
I always ride with the "Quick strap" system, that way if you get an instant faceful, quick flick (if you are lucky!), and vision is restored - provided you dont get a second instant faceful, in which case you are f*******d.
Other than that keep them spotless between races, store in freezer bags and use the defog stuff on the inside.
All parts are available from OROnly, so not a disaster if string breaks etc.
I dont use them for trail riding - waste of money, just stop, clean them and then bury the rider who caused the problem in the first place - not TRF pc but we all know it happens.
Somehow always seems amusing - sad really, tee hee.
I couldnt possibly condone such childish behaviour.
