Hi all, not an official report with lane numbers etc but wanted to share.
my work got cancelled due to the weather and my wife said I should dig the bike out! Couldn't pass this up.
i left home in East Ogwell through the normal green lanes but the one with a river crossing was a bit fast and deep to attempt so back to the main roads down to pear tree garage. I headed up to Buckland via a couple lanes then over hamel down and back to widdecome for a tea and a pasty.
i looped bone hill and then through manaton, off the moor and home via a lane or two through liverton.
sorry for no lane numbers as I don't have memory maps anymore due to new computers etc.
a fun gentle ride out trying to find my feet again after a 12 month break.
Good man - though it can be a bit 'iffy' as long as you don't take chances then a solo trip can be a very 'special' experiance
Nothing like SOLO for building confidence, just dont get to confident to quickly. Saying that I do a lot of solo and its just nice to get away from everything.

Riding with enthusiasm upon the ragged precipice of disaster
I often do that loop when I want to get out for an hour or so, or when I take the scenic route on my way to visit friends. Turned a 7 mile journey into 30 miles a few weeks ago.
I do enjoy taking my time, enjoying the views, and soaking up the scenery, when riding alone and I often see things that I would have missed when riding with a group.
It is interesting to note that I tend to ride faster when in company but that is probably because I am confident that someone would pick me up if I fell, and riding alone certainly makes one focus on risk assessing each and every step of the way and a lot less likely to take chances. Working for a company that does not pay sick pay is a big factor too.
