Hi ya - does anyone have a heart rate monitor that they no longer use/want? I want to set up a small experiment to assess the health benefits of trail riding based on monitoring heart rates over a number of rides using a number of volunteers. One linked to GPS would be ideal as the routes can then be referenced against lanes. If someone has such a thing buried in a drawer somewhere and would be happy to lend or sell it on, then let me know
Hi Bud I have a heart monitor watch (somewhere) with the chest strap, I can try and dig it out, and going off your profile your Cully based, just like me, heck you can help me search the man cave for it!
I'll have a rummage at the weekend, I'm due out on the mtb on sunday.
I'm Langlands so pretty close to you. Am I out much, well I'll see how the MoT goes on Wednesday lol
I may have an old unit somewhere, We tried something similar in the mid 90,s when I ran the professional diving school in Exmouth. After a years work, dozens of volunteers, assistance from medical departments at RD&E Wonford, it all proved to be totally useless as the powers that be threw out our report at the first instance as the equipment (heart rate monitors) were not correctly, and could not be calibrated. This was even due to the fact that we were donated new top of the range units by a leading manufacturer
If you are having to scrounge around for a second hand unit, you will be fighting a battle that you will not win, no matter how good your intentions. unless you can prove without a doubt the accuracy of your equipment, no one that matters will take any notice of what you have done. My advice unless you have several hundred thousand to spend give up now as you are wasting both your and everyone elses time.
The data we did collect, did get used years later, in a negative manner to ensure something that could have been worthwhile was killed off. Always worth remembering that data you collect may not be used in the manner you want
If I come across the old units I will contact you, you will be welcome to them
