Me (russell11031967) Daniam (Forestcat) Geoff (Kwakageoff)
Started off from home at 8.15am and rode to meet Damian at Cornwood just stopping off on the way to ride 202-140 before meeting him at Cornwood Square, we then rode via Lee Moor and past the new Hemerdon mine works (very large and impressive) down to Geoff's at Plympton.
We fuelled up and grabbed some food supplies at the garage just down the road where we saw this Minter. He was just taking it up the road to put it on a dyno
We then set of for Bickleigh and the short and grassy, 201-052, then201-047 (not like the summer ride, no sunbathing beauties here this time) then up to Castor Down and a small grassy (white) 201-084, then down to Meavy Ford and 201-090, fairly deep but still passable.
Then up to Burrator Reservoir which after the recent rain was 100% full and cascading over the dam, then two lanes around the reservoir, 202-039 and 202-038, where we investigated a small cave we found.
Then on to the short stony climb of 201-039, up to the Church and then 201-040, which was easier to ride than last time, plus the farmer's trailers at the farm end of the lane had been moved to one side which made exiting easier (plus no confrontation with the farmer).
Then a long twelve mile road trip to 191-082 where we had a quick stop for a snack (Mars Bar).
It was raining a bit by now so we pushed on to the gated 191-093, then the muddy climb of 191-085. Next was one I like, 191-086, we dodged the farmer clearing a fallen tree at the top of the drive and when we got to the gate at the South end we met Brownie, Victor, Biff and Adamski coming from the opposite direction, we stopped for a chat or was it some banter then both groups went on their way.
Next for us was 191-084 and whilst shutting the gate at the Moor end we heard the sound of bikes again, the other group had returned again, so we then realised it was a race to get down to the Food shack at Widecombe before Brownie ate all the pies!!
After a lunch of pasty and coffee we were going to continue on together but Damian had a puncture so Brownie's group carried on their planned route and we spent at least 45 minutes trying to pull a thorn out of the MT43 and refit the new tube and tyre (definitely out of practice doing this in the field and spoilt having a tyre changer at home).
Anyway back on the road but nearly an hour down, it was up to the nice 191-083, then North to 191-073, then the narrow 191-068 where we stopped at the end to admire Bovey castle, then on to Bovey Ford and 191-069, a great lane.
Just down the road from this Geoff decided to go paddling.
Then down into Manaton and onto 191-080 where Geoff's bike was playing up after his little paddle and we had to stop and drain his carb, then back up to do the long but great 191-073, then down into IIsington to do Simms Hill where Damian had a little trouble (was his first time).
Second time lucky maybe? Run up looks ok. then took to the right hand side. oh. Maybe not then
We started to cut the planned route after this as we were well behind schedule due to the puncture, so we dropped 191-105 and 191-098 and did 191-087 to take us up to Tipley, 191-089, which was still dry and was surprisingly easy, more route cutting and we did 191-101 and 191-103 to take us down into Liverton.
We stopped off for a petrol stop at Bovey Straights and then decided to drop most of the lanes planned on the way down the A38 and head straight for some of our favourites down at Dean, so we just did 191-097, then a bit of road work to 202-003, then 202-389 and 202-025, where the log man had blocked the lane with a land rover, trailer and a tractor, I just managed to squeeze through, but when he saw me he was quite happy to move them for the others. It took us a while to pull out onto the A38 as the traffic was manic, then down to Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, leaving out a lot of lanes that had been planned, just trying to beat the sun going down. We got to Dean and did 202-086 with no problems as it seems a lot easier these days, then we did 202-085 down and then back up, this one is quite washed out these days, then we did 202-095, then at the end we went and took a look at the new bridge they are building over the A38 at Rattery as the old one had concrete cancer.
Then the last couple on the way home, 202-338 and 202-120, then we used the back roads via Moorhaven to get us to Bittaford and on into Ivybridge and the garage where we said our goodbyes.
Only an hour or so later and Geoff's lovely lady was picking us up and driving us to Newton Abbot to meet Brownie and a few others for a Laners' night out in Newton. Beefeater festive menu and a few beers and then a few more beers around town, cut short I'm afraid for Damian, Geoff and myself as we had to catch the last train at 23.19 back to Plymouth and then a taxi home. A long day but well worth it, thanks to Geoff and Damian for the ride out and to Brownie, Adamski, Biff, Schoe000, Wheely, Jonzy and Rob +1 for a great evening out.

Nice report Russ. Pity i just missed you on this ride out, a visit to the garage meant I missed the start of Brownies ride, so after I got home I set off in a reverse direction and me them in the woods at Lustleigh - you were only a few miles behind repairing your puncture. I turned around and joined Brownie and crew.
But nice to see ya all in the evening - a good night out. The Jolly Farmer has some nice girls too - especially the barmaid. How come you didn't mention her Russ ???
