Me, I just joined via your link (thought I might learn a bit more about ROW) Payment sent just waiting for membership number and newletter Nearly as expensive as the TRF, will see if its value for money.
Defiantly seem well organised but I didn't really realize all members seem to be 4X4 people thought it was all other users groups, just me being daft I suppose
Talk all the talk about preserving the countryside and only going out in small groups etc, etc.
Only thing that concerns me is some of their vehicles seem way overboard for a gentle day out laning
I have a Land Rover Discovery and have been known to do the odd lane now and again But and its a BIG BUT I don't have aggressive tyres, only road tyres, no roll cage and so on and I certainly don't have three winches let alone one.
Some of their vehicles are Specials, built for competitions etc, admittedly this doesn't mean the vehicle will cause anymore damage, only if its in the hands of someone with little or no respect for the lanes. But it does pose the question WHY Quiet possibly these people are involved in more than one activity in their vehicles, doing competitive events as well as a bit of laning.
Anyway turns out I know the Devon Area rep so gonna give him a ring and find out a bit more about what they get up to in our area.
I used to be a member of GLASS many moons ago when I was laning in a Series 3 Landy.
At the same time my son and I trialled in a Series 2A with a V6 lump, raised suspension, roll cage and seriously gnarly tyres. Sometimes he would come out laning, but we still 'played the game'.
Many TRF members, including me, ride race bikes. Presumably, as members of the TRF we 'play the game'.
I wouldn't worry that the GLASS guys are driving specials/competition vehicles Russell. If they are members of GLASS, then I think we have to work on the presumption that we are all very much on the same side

We were in Wilts at the time so did events mainly in Wilts/Glos. My son then went on to Lincs for 3 yrs and drove in Lincs/Yorks area. We were members of the RAFMSA, which is a non-geographical (I think that is the term) club.
The problem was finding events that we could be competitive in. The machine was a beast but, because it had a 3 litre Ford Essex engine in it, we couldn't enter Land Rover events and in open events we would get seen off on the tight, twisty bits. The Landy could climb anything but the courses were set for little lightweight Suzuki Jeeps that could turn. Landies can't.

Used to trial an SJ back in the 80's I love landys but did get great satisfation from turning up in a tiny 1000cc machine (which was my daily drive) and going places the V8 engined landy specials couldn't
Son now has a Jimny and its a fantastic little machine.....
