I'm new to this lainin stuff & normally ride road bikes, I'm looking for a cheapish bike to use to get in to trail riding but theres a lot out there. i don't want anything too extreme and have been looking at WR250's and alike but i am a little vertically challenged (about 5'9 at the very best) i want to be able to get my feet down fairly easily in the early stages (confidence thing) anyone got any advice on what bikes i should be looking at?
I would love a Scorpa T-ride but with a budget of around £2k and the fact that they are like Rocking horse excrement thats probably not likely!
Yamaha TTr 250 is a good starting point
one on Gumtree in Devon I don't know the seller and don't think he's a TTr forum member or a Trf member but worth a look people have been known to go a long way to find one. www.gumtree.com/p/yamaha-motorbikes/yamaha-ttr-250-2004/1120001471

JT mentioned the Yamaha Serrow, they are light, have a low seat and are not too expensive. Another to consider is the DR250 Djebel, a common jap import.
Any of the bikes mentioned can be lowered very simply with new suspension links which are fairly cheap, £70 or less.
Any four stroke trail bike with an electric start will be easy to live with provided its in good condition, more modern machines generally have better suspension but with more maintenance needed for the sportier engines, they are also often less well suited to road and duel sport use if that is something important to you.
Why not post up specific bikes you are interested in here on the forums, so we can comment in detail on them.
