Heard of arm pump before and suffered ache in the forearms on occasion - but hellfire today Doug will testify to the fact that my second finger of both hands completely 'doubled back' and locked up today.......Couldn't pull the clutch in to stop with the left, and as I had the front brake covered with the right I couldn't let go of the lever!!!!! Took a good 10 mins before I could get my fingers off my palms (Doug had a pull on one and will tell you how 'tight' they were locked up) and move my hands.
Was lucky I had just come out of the nadgery bit going up 192-195 and had got to the flatter bit at the top.
Was OK for a few lanes and then about half hour later it happend again - had to ride home with left hand resting on the bars and use the clutch with my 'claw' the throttle I could just about manage but with my thumb over the top. So why today after all these years chaps? - I haven't ridden 'hard' for a few months admittedly and this morning though not difficult was 'well paced', also I don't think I was drinking enough - that explain it?
That was not the only 'medical' issue of the day as Doug got a bug (a beetle type looking thing) stuck up his snout and then almost drowned himself with his water bottle trying to wash it out
I think maybe we need a Paramedic in tow next time

Must admit i did laugh a bit, never seen arm pump up so bad. I think jt had not ridden the lanes for a number of weeks and was gripping to hard. The bug was another issue breathed it in coughed hard and forced the winged thing up the back of my nostril, with tears poring down my cheeks i got to the end of the lane to catch up with jt. Got me helmet off and the thing is moving in my cavity. So the only thing was to pour water into the nostril and inhaile hard, now water a lungs dont go together but did the trick crawler came whizzing out snot and all.
