a freind of mine plus me was out in his feilds tonight and theres a really deep puddle with a deep rut going though it he went though got stuck in the rut and pinned it in 2nd to get out and could not so turned the bike off and we dragged it out
he then tried starting it withch it didnt start
he thought batery went dead so tried kicking it but the kick start was solid
we then took plug out turnt upside down in fith gear spun the wheel drained carb and cleaned air box and filter
my question is when the plug was out the motor tuned over but when pug is in its solid again what is wrong with it please ?
Are you sure he actually turned it off or did it stop on its own?
Sounds like you still have fluid in the cylinder or the cam timing had moved. But the damage could be endless.
Good luck
Doesnt sound good. Last time my mate drowned his 250excf it cracked piston and bent con-rod. I did turn over though.
The fact it turns over with plug out suggests its not hitting any valves etc - so strange how it locks after. Still some water somewhere -- or something more serious.
there was still water in the barrel its all out now and can now kick it with plug in he put a new plug in and its just back firing and he said it feels like there's not a lot of compression
im not sure on the mater but it doesn't sound as bad as i thought i don't think
Stateing the obvious, if there isnt sufficient compression then there is a leak one way or the other, up or down.
Whatever the outcome, please let us know.
It all helps others who might end up in a similar position.
Have the engine out/or at least the head off first before anymore damage is done messing about, it may not be as bad as you think, but there will be money required.
