Only been laning for 10months, changed the original tires at 300miles for a Comp 4 front, MT43 Rear on my CRF250L, so i haven't actually tried a knobbly tyre and have been told so many times not too..
Well its almost time to change my rear and find it hard to risk spending £s a tyre that may stall my progress.. So i will be ordering another MT43..
BUT... i would like to try a knobbly, so if anyone has a used one in the garage (120/90-18, 4.00-18 or equivalent) not being used and would like to donate it, i promise i will share the videos of how i get on (I maybe the first to find the Badger Sanctuary).
Thanks in advance,
Rod

They come on the new free rides and have been designed by KTM but can't see any reason not to fit other bikes as there the same size as the mt43 and I know bombx has one on his beta
My pennies worth!
Trying a used MX tyre will probably put you off.
On the lanes, a bald MX tyre will give you far more grief than a bald MT43!!
From a racing point of view, a new tyre has an edge that is essential / ideal.
Once this edge has gone + a margin, then it becomes a handicap.
Once these tyres are beyond this point, then they can be used for trail riding.
MX tyres are for, generally, deep mud or sand etc.
MX tyres dig dirt and leave it somewhere else.
Riders who do not have the ability to carry momentum will dig bigger holes etc etc.
From a keeping the peace point of view, digging holes in the lanes aint good.
Try a new tyre, lads have their preferences, then you will know.
Personally I like a bald MT43 and keep it rolling, plus it makes for a giggle and costs FA.
Like I said - my pennies worth.
Enjoy.
I have a 3/4 worn maxxis trialmax if you want that to try - amazing tyre, the best of both worlds, out performs an MT43 and gives as good as a knobby when needed - still bloody good when worn.
