Ive just re read the entry requirements for the type of bike on the taffy Dakar. 500cc or more or a non enduro trail bike or one that would originally have had rear footpegs.
Yikes- are they strict about this as it would exclude the vast majority of green laning bikes. was this the same in previous years?
Ive not been before, but reading through thier regs, and looking at previous years photos i get the impression there is going to be a reasonable amount of wiggle room on the issue, and your beta is not exactly a wake the dead - fire breathing enduro monster
For peace of mind you could email them to clear it, your welcome to ride with me and my mate over the weekend so it might help if you tell them you will be teamed with a pair of DR350's
Perhaps include a photo of your bike with a shopping basket cable tied to the handlebars, and you wearing a flatcap and smoking a pipe?
Ok........................... Ive been advised its an Enduro bike Mike and wont be allowed in the event Im afraid.
bugger- Ive sent an e mail directly to see
Does your bike qualify mike?
Mike
My CCM is a Dual Sport not an Enduro Mike so i certainly hope so as Matt rode the same model a couple of years ago in it. Im guessing you can still camp etc and ride the same lanes but wont be listed in the event as an entrant but not sure. as you already paid etc I would ask if you can still turn up etc but not be entered as the lanes arent retricted to just the Taffy of course.

Someone did that last year, but they did not like it
I totally appreciate their wanting to deter wanna be racers attending, but the lines between what is and isnt an enduro are pretty blurred when it comes to certain bikes.
were honda XR's not pukka enduro bikes in their day? seems like every other pic of taffy dakar has an XR in it
Hope you get it sorted Mike, if it comes to it i might be able to lend you a bike for the event but my second bike needs a bit of work atm so will have to see if its ready
Fingers crossed Mike I hope you get something sorted as we tried to get tickets last year but failed so have been looking forward to this one and been waiting a long time. Your right Albert its a blurred line between them for sure and as said the XR was an enduro in its day

Last year anyone on full enduro bikes like WR, EXC etc just got to ride with the marshals for the day on Saturday then any bike was allowed on the trail ride on the Sunday as I recall.
thanks all for the simpathy and potential offers of a bike- I suppose rules are rules- I should have read them properly first but I still havent had a formal response to my e mail enquiry- now looking for a little bike to buy - might try and go nice and light for a change- something a bit trialy --maybe a twinshock
