Displaying a ticket on a motorcycle is a joke. Firstly there's often no screen or anything to stick it on and then there's nothing stopping some scrote simply walking of with it!

When I've left the bike in car parks in Wales they insist you buy a ticket and keep it on you. If you get booked you have a copy of the ticket... not sure how that works as you're not displaying it as required. I take photo of the ticket on the bike beforeI leave.
Hi GC. A pal of ours saw your post and spoke to an EDDC mate of his. He got this reply which I hope you will find helpful:-
Saw a problem with parking for bikes in Beer on TRF Discussion Forum & contacted
Councillor Chubb, who sent this reply with his EDDC hat on. Please can you post it for him.

If you are a forum member tell them this quote from Environment Portfolio holder:
We do not currently charge for motorcycles and have no plans to do so in the foreseeable future at EDDC car parks as long as parked in motorcycle areas or not taking up a marked bay, but parked in consideration of other users. The sign appears to contain an error which will be rectified.
We do not charge because in our experience locally most motorcyclists are considerate and use the corners of the Central car park where their motorcycles are safe, out of the way and does not take up a car bay. We would wish to encourage this use of the Central car park but the restriction in Fore Street arose because of complaints from elderly residents who had difficulty when motorcycles left there were obstructing the pavement.

The first two photos show the corners where Chubb thinks it possible to park motorcycles, as you can see if two cars park in the adjacent bays anything parked on the hatched yellow lines is blocked in.
There is however a small area at the bottom corner which may or may not be free, normally there is a council van or a car parked there. This is the extent of any area where motorcycles could be parked in the central car park , since EDDC rejigged the parking spaces to get maximum use from the space
Next photo of the only free motorcycle parking area in Beer if not occupied
As for the parking of bikes on the pavement causing complaints from elderly residents, the next photo shows the council installed bike parking racks at the very spot that motorcycles are now banned, These racks have been there for at least 20 years
The council have also renewed this parking sign, just outside the Dolphin Hotel and covers the area down fore street to just before the bottom car park. This is the only bit of onroad parking now in Beer within easy walking distance of the beach, This covers the piece of road shown in the following photo

Spent a lovely afternoon with my old folks in Beer on Thursday afternoon. Nice and warm on the beach, sheltered from the cold wind by someone's locked up beach hut, decent cuppa and an ice cream.
Very pleased to have secured 2x 2hr free parking bays in the town too.
Will I ever return? Probably.
Will I voluntarily pay to park in a county that I already subsidise to the tune of £2K in "council tax"? Pharq that.
