We stayed in Douglas, cause that's where it all goes on....bands, drinking etc. Best to turn up the day before racing starts, and go home the day it finishes, everyone goes home and the place goes quiet. Can't realy remember much else because I went with a group of 18 lads. It is the best fun ever and the bikes are mega fast.
It may still be like this, Joey Dunlop, Ron Haslam and Mick Grant were racing, Joey Dunlop won.......kin ell was it really that long ago.
Went this year stayed in a Homestay, Onchan just a short walk from Governers.. We didn't stay for Seniors, the money saving for that one day (due to ferry costs) paid for B&B the night before the next morning ferry crossing and 9 days instead of 7, so got to see more of the practice sessions..
Try to get the Manx Pub and the Terminus.. (Rider and presenters, was given the information from the people we stayed with.. it didn't disappoint, got to spend an whole evening yapping with Mitch Shirra Wiki, the stories were amazing!
I have some .gpx files i created which will help you get around the inside of course after the race starts and you be able to get to other prominent positions between races.. Hope this makes sense?
Homestay is the best way, call the Iom tourist board, we fly from Bristol, as the cost of taking the bikes over for a few days is too much and the ferry needs booking way in advance.
Bus is brilliant, goes all the way round the course, jump off, pint in a pub, jump on, repeat!
