I recently had an issue with MyHermes & they are a nightmare to deal with, their online help chat thing drives you nuts !
I had a pair of wheels coming only one turned up and the other didn't, I was given the runaround for a whole week as to it's location, they won't consider an item as missing until over 5 days I think.
Eventually I discovered the missing one wasn't missing at all but it had a damaged label (somehow in transit) so wouldn't scan, this meant it had to be sent to their 're-addressing & labelling' department to have a fresh label printed and stuck on it, then it had to go back into the system again to be delivered.
The first wheel took 2 or 3 days the second took over 3 weeks ... but it did arrive .
So, it may be worth just keeping on pestering them and asking about the label and where it was last scanned. They are a nightmare to communicate with but do sort things in the end.
I did some relif driving overnite trunking for a parcel company,
Go to a big warehouse for drop and collect trailers,
every parcel was thrown from this pallatainer to that one depending on which area it had to go,
so damage was inevitable,no matter how good it was packed....
It,s not my parcel attitude,
but then when you have thousands coming into a depot, time is of the essence to get ME trunked back to Exeter, for that days delivery....
I always insist that the buyer pays shipping insurance, I have seen how the courier companies treat parcels in their care, its a disgrace.
Best of luck trying to get anything out of them, once they have had your money they don't give a damm
Also you should state on the advert that if the parcel appears damaged on delivery it should not be accepted, and the delivery note notated as such, If you don't the company will just state the damage happened after delivery , Royal Mail Parcel Farce and TNT/FedEx are the worst offenders for this
My advice next time cover your arse by stating everything possible about delivery, get insurance and make sure everything is in writing, if not you will have to carry the loss
