I very reluctantly had to cancel my entry on Deci's WooHoo LDT yesterday after being asked to be a Steward on the above event.
Based at the Anchor Inn at Exebridge, it really is an amazing event - 96 cars entered, the youngest was a 1937 747cc Austin 7, and the oldest a 1914 4500cc Vauxhall A Type.
There was a 1927 4500cc Bentley Le Mans, and a 1923 1500cc Bugatti Bresica - see photos.
The majority were from between 1927 to 1930. Some were immaculate but most reflected their hard usage as trials cars.
Some were 4 seaters and all had a full complement of passengers, many dressed in period, despite the mist and rain.
Lots a lady passengers / bouncers, and seven lady drivers.
They tackled 16 hills from up the Exe valley and across to Twitchen (no they didn't use the lane!), all of which were 'serious' hills and only cleaned by a few of the most able and committed.
A really great atmosphere where they were all there to have a good but competitive day.
So if you are at all interested in the early cars, but have only ever seen them in a museum, come along next year and see and hear them at full throttle trashing up the Exmoor hills.
I enjoyed watching an old boy in a priceless irreplaceable Bentley in British racing green giving it the beans up Babbacombe hill climb. It is wonderful to see machinery being used as intended by the manufacturer instead of being polished and trailered to events.
