NOT the Exeter Trial

I've been out again on my own version of The Exeter Trial today but I'm calling it THE EAST DEVON bit of a TRAIL instead biggrin

Mrs Cubber decided that she would walk to East Budleigh and exercise our dog, Jedi so we dressed for the cold and set off.

Jedi and Mrs Cubber decided they'd go via 192-177 and 192-176 to get to East Budleigh so I was on my own.

As I passed the end of 192-185 I looked at the state and saw this...

and this was where Brian recently queried if anyone knew where it was......

I quickly reached East Bud and went to the end of 192-176 to meet Mrs C and Jedi.

If you look closely you can see a black bobble hat in the middle of this picture of 192-176 end.

Unfortunately our destination, The Walter Raleigh wasn't open so it was decided that the Kings Arms would have to do instead.

We walked through EB and along the main road to a lane know as Gruff's Lane.

This is the entrance to 192-163 which I helped to clear some years ogo ......

and this is a view halfway along the lane, quite a vista and no trees or branches to get in the way now....

Further along the lane gets a bit narrower and gets like a staircase as you go downhill over some tree roots .....

Waiting at the junction with Frogmoor lane were Jedi and Mrs C ......

And to show that I did get there here's a shot of me and Jedi ...

The Kings Arms was open in Otterton and we all warmed up in the pub whilst having a chat with the locals and a drink of course.

Mrs C and Jedi returned home by walking down the River Otter path.

I returned along Frogmore Lane to join the main road back to Buidleigh.

I got home shortly before they did and quickly put the kettle on for a hot coffee to greet them both.

All before lunch and no Simms Hill was encountered. wink

Excellent read and loads of photos, thanks Martyn

Gruff's lane, remember those days very well he did an excellent job on all those issues, strange nothing or nobody has tempted to wire it since

Get some knobbly's for that scoot man and you could do all the local lanes wink

I'm sure DTRF members could help source some correct sized rubber Knobbers

Keep us posted on the next adventure please....

Is there a bit of Husky in Jedi? He looks like he is just waiting for the command 'Mush!'

Good on you Cubber - keep meaning to call in, but your garage is always shut when I pass and that was normally my cue to stop for a natter

John, the garage is kept shut unless I'm going out or in otherwise the contents are on show to everyone who passes. smile

My two remaining bikes and mob scoots are kept in there together with Mrs Cubber's wine cache so the door's rarely left open.

If there's no red Fiesta parked at the side then it's a good sign that Mrs C is out shopping or chaufessing but this doesn't mean that I'm not in.

Whenever you pass and want a coffee, tea, bit of flapjack, cake, help or a chat then park up and ring the bell/knock on the door.

You'll not know just by the garage door being shut. no

A welcome is always in store, ready to be had by you or anyone else come to that.

Martyn

Nice one Martyn! I thought the same as Pete about Jedi's possible sled dog attributes biggrin

192-185 could be a bit of a challenge - i bet that mud is sticky with the bit of dry weather we have had.

I can vouch for Martyn's hospitality and Mrs Cubber's flapjack which is delicious wink
